Kate pushed a delicate pastry toward Angie, her smile innocent. She said, "What happened between Rhea and me will never involve you. We met because you helped me, and I think of you like my younger sister. What outsiders say is their business. We can't control what they say, and we don't need to take it to heart."
Angie nodded slowly. "Those people do love to gossip."
Somehow, she realized that in Draventh—whether among heiresses, heirs, wealthy wives, or other social circles—the level of gossip was no less than in her small hometown.
Words spread quickly. Anyone's affairs could become entertainment during a quick round of golf.
Those young ladies were even worse. Gossiping in person wasn't enough. They kept their private group chats buzzing with conversation every single day.
Weren't these elite daughters supposed to be proper and refined? Why did they gossip more vigorously than the village ladies back home?
"Don't overthink, and don't let those people affect your mood or mind. Focus on yourself and live your life well. That's the biggest blow to those who watch for amusement." Kate guided her.
Angie nodded. "You're right!"
The two women chatted happily for over an hour.
"Help me deliver the invitation to Rhea, and remember to arrive early yourself," Kate said as they parted.
Angie clutched the two invitations. "I will, Kate!"
After watching Kate leave first, Angie happily returned to her car.
