Steven’s voice swept through the room like a cool breeze–sharp enough to jolt people awake, yet calm enough to leave everyone stunned.

Zack froze in place.

Others might not know, but he understood perfectly well.

He had borrowed from other people’s patents before, but this time he had run straight into a wall. To make matters worse, he had even hired the famous Nadine, one of the best–known attorneys in the city.

Zack was guilty, no doubt about it.

But why would Steven suddenly admit to stealing the patent?

Beside him, Nadine let out a slow breath. She lifted her chin, as if her earlier defeat had never happened.

Under the table, Tommy felt the pressure of a firm grip on his arm.

He lowered his eyes, almost resigned to his fate. “Ladies and gentlemen,” he said, voice heavy, “I didn’t expect my client to admit guilt. Looks like there’s no need for another trial.”

The sudden turn left Zack speechless.

He glanced at Nadine in shock. Zack saw her smile with a look that said, “Finally.”

He stood and declared, “Well, since Nexus has admitted to copying our patent, why waste time. with another hearing?”

Tommy slumped into his seat, pale and defeated.

Steven, however, was calm. He had already pictured this scene a hundred times.

“Since Nexus never put their tech on the market, the court orders them to pay damages for emotional distress and issue a public statement on every platform, clearing Finch Tech’s

name.”

The judgment was final. The case was closed.

Tommy no longer felt the thrill of standing in court. He sat there like a beaten rooster, drained of all fight, no longer strutting with his head held high.

Zack, on the other hand, puffed himself up, strutting right in front of Steven as if he’d won the

war.

Nadine stood by his side, steady and composed.

“Steven, I told you not to fight me. You really think that just because you left Mr. Lock’s company and went overseas, you’ll become somebody important?”

Zack gave Steven a mocking look, his eyes running up and down his calm face.

Nadine made a show of glancing behind Steven, pretending to be puzzled. “Tess didn’t come because she knew this case was impossible to win?”

Her words hit like a storm against Steven’s calm front. He snapped his head up, eyes locked on Nadine, as if he could dig out the truth from her face.

Those people had kidnapped and tortured Tess. They didn’t ask for money. Instead, they wanted him to lose this trial to Zack. That meant….

Steven’s pupils widened,

Was it Zack’s doing? Or Nadine’s?

The clear, steady aura he usually carried darkened, like a drop of ink spreading in clean water.

He stepped forward, his gaze fixed on Zack and Nadine; a hostile aura radiated like a wave from his body.

Tommy jolted back to his senses. He quickly grabbed Steven and shot him a warning look.

“This is a courtroom,” he whispered.

He knew Steven was furious, but no matter what, this wasn’t the place to explode in anger.

“What’s this? Aren’t you fearless? You actually worried about something?” Nadine smirked.

From behind her, a bearded man stepped forward, giving Tommy a mocking look too.

Tommy’s face darkened, but he only gave a cold snort and turned his head aside.
