He was always so calm, so why was he acting so rushed and panicked today?

Tess frowned in confusion but didn’t dwell on it and got back to work.

Outside, Connor leaned against the door, letting out a long, heavy sigh.

He had always been single, and in every way, Tess was the best partner he wanted and respected.

Hearing him drop the “saying,” Connor perked up. Marc kept hyping him up, telling him to boldly go to Tess and make his feelings clear. Half of him was skeptical, but he also felt torn.

“Trust me, Connor. She’s not divorced yet, so she’s obviously hesitant. You need to make your feelings clear. Show her you’re serious. That’ll strengthen her decision to leave her marriage and make her pay more attention to you.

“Tess has a kid now. There’s no way she’ll relate to a young, immature guy. She needs someone mature and successful–like you.”
