Phineas stared at Juniper as she giggled while Kyst was handcuffed and wondered how it was such a perfect human being existed on this planet. She was exquisite. Her giggles were the perfect soundtrack to the chaos which unfolded the moment they’d stepped outside.
He looked at Denise who was sitting in the patrol car, her forehead against the window, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed pitifully and realized he felt nothing. Not anger, or pity or even regret. There was nothing there. This morning he’d given a little fist pump of celebration when the divorce decree came through, thanks to Beni’s father’s pulling of strings to get things moving along. It paid to be rich.
He smiled down at the woman draped in his arms and kissed her forehead. He was hoping Gonzalo Rojas could do the same for Juniper that he did for him.
“Sir, we’re going to need you all to come down to the precinct to get statements.”
“Is this necessary? You have all the surveillance possible, and my fiancée is shaken up by the events. I’d like to get her home to

“There are too many people for us to get all the statements here. Yours and your friends are important. My team is already spread thin here getting statements from all these people. I have an officer who is going to meet your driver at the hospital for his

statement. I need you all down at the station. Please.”

“I want us in and out. No fucking around. It makes no fucking sense you need our statements when you can see for yourself the god damned damage she’s done. She’s fucking psycho.”
“Sir. I am respectfully asking you to come to the precinct. It’s the best way to ensure justice gets served.”
“And I am respectfully telling you, it’s a load of horseshit, when there is surveillance everywhere, people with videos of the scene and I know my vehicle has a dashcam in it.” He waved at his security team, “get the other vehicle over her. We need to dance like fucking monkeys in order for the god damned cops to do their jobs and make sure she goes to jail.”
“Phineas,” his face warmed as Juniper gripped his cheeks in her hands and forced him to look at her, “stop being an angry CEO for a moment and try to understand this is for our benefit.”
“But I want to take you home.” He stared into her hazel eyes mesmerized once again by how purely her heart beamed through. She was the sunshine in the darkness of his soul, and he was not above resorting to whining to get his own way and get her back home so he could be with her.
“Phineas,” she giggled at his pout, “I know you’re thinking how you just blurted out you loved me in front of a bunch of people, and you want to take me home and show me but there are things we need to do first.”
He crinkled his nose up and sighed loudly, “fine but you’re 2/5

riding with me in the back seat. One of those other fuckers has to sit up front.”
Adil heard his comment and grunted, “it’s going to be me. I know it is.”
Juniper’s giggle as Adil joined in the pouting made his heart clench again. What was it with this woman that even a giggle made his heart pound like it was ready to leap from his chest to bow at her feet.
He shot one last look at Denise who was being driven away, and he shook his head wondering how the fuck he’d almost managed to get stuck with that psychopath for all of eternity when such a gift to the human race as Juniper Kennedy existed.
Carrying her to the vehicle he slid in beside her and tucked her under his arm. Beni slid in through the other door and Adil, as he said he would get into the passenger front seat while a security driver put the car in motion before they even put their seat belts on.
“I want us in and out of there, Beni. No fucking around. I certainly don’t want to be in the same god damned room as Denise.”
Beni looked up from his phone, “Dad is meeting us there.”
Juniper looked up with alarm from where she was curled into Phineas‘ chest, “your father will be there?”
