Chapter 127 The Persistent Suitor
When Martha finished speaking, her expression softened as she looked at Nancy. “Nancy, you did wonderfully.”
“Thank you, Grandma.”
“I’ve arranged a celebratory dinner for you. Bring your design team along and enjoy it together,” Martha said.
Nancy smiled faintly. “Alright, Grandma. Will you be joining us?”
“I’ll pass. If I go, you’ll all feel too pressured to even enjoy yourselves.”
Martha shook her head and continued, “Go on now. Don’t keep everyone hungry.”
Nancy felt a bittersweet warmth stir in her chest. She nodded, rose to her feet, and left the
room.
Andrew immediately grinned. “Nancy, eat well tonight. Soon, the design department will be in your hands. With you leading it, I can finally rest easy.”
Nancy only gave a quiet nod before stepping out.
Andrew laughed. “I knew it! My daughter really is remarkable. She’s not only a piano virtuoso but also a design prodigy.”
Regina couldn’t help feeling a swell of pride as she thought of Nancy’s many hidden talents.
However, Martha cut in coldly. “Remarkable or not, she is still a Lidell. If any of you forget that, you’ll regret it one day.”
With that, she turned and left.
Andrew turned to Regina. “I told you to get closer to Nancy. What exactly have you been doing?
་་
“It’s not that I haven’t tried to get close to her, but she’s always so distant. I can’t keep throwing myself at her only to be pushed away. I’m her mother, not a beggar,” Regina said with a trace of grievance.
Andrew sighed in frustration. “We’re family. Why nitpick every little thing? If you treat her with real care, do you think she won’t respond in kind? If you don’t build that bond now, do you really think she’ll still listen to us when she takes over the company?”
“I understand,” Regina murmured.

But inwardly, she told herself that no matter what happened, Nancy was still her daughter. Whether the company ended up in her hands or Nancy’s, it wouldn’t make a difference.
They left together soon after, Andrew heading straight for the office. Meanwhile, Regina had the driver take her home. As the car passed a downtown hotel, she caught sight of two familiar figures standing near the entrance.
It was Jerome and Nancy.
The two looked surprisingly at ease with each other. In fact, Jerome’s attitude seemed almost
deferential toward Nancy.
Regina shook her head, doubting her own eyes. With Jerome’s status, everyone else was usually the one trying to curry favor with him.
It was inconceivable that he would show such respect to Nancy.
“Graham, Lidell Group really took advantage of you. If your design had been released under our company, it would’ve easily sold for seven figures, but with them, it’s capped at six,” Jerome said, feeling deeply frustrated.
“If I end up running the company one day, letting them profit a little won’t matter,” Nancy replied calmly.
Jerome stared at her in astonishment. “You’re not seriously telling me you’re Andrew’s real daughter, are you? Oh my God… Then what on earth is wrong with him and Regina? They ignore a genius like you and put all their support behind Raine?”
Jerome could hardly believe how foolish they were.
However, Nancy was already used to it. “That’s why Lidell Group has been going downhill all this time. Enough of that. Come upstairs and have something to eat with us.’

“I’d love to join, but you all should celebrate properly. As an outsider, I’ll just stay out of it.”
Jerome chatted with her briefly, then left soon after.
Nancy returned to the private room where everyone was in high spirits. “Ms. Moore, you’re back! Try some of this wine that was just sent over from the restaurant.
Nancy’s eyes flickered as she saw the bottle of red wine. It was easily worth over a million dollars. “Did the restaurant really send this to us?”
“Yes, a waiter just said so,” one of the designers replied.

Her eyes brightened. “Wait. It’s that waiter over there!”
The waiter brought over a cake, placing it on the table. “This is a gift from our boss to celebrate your victory today!”
“Wow! This cake is beautiful!”
“You can tell it’s expensive. But… who is your boss?” everyone asked curiously.
