Chapter 135 Misunderstandings Arise
Regina said, “Alright.”
She then nodded thoughtfully, though worry lingered in her eyes. “But what if Nancy actually secures the heiress position?”
“If that happens, we have ways to manage her. Mom, Nancy is also at the age where she should be thinking about marriage. It’s time we provided proper guidance in her choice of a partner,” Fergus said with a faint smirk.
A spark of hope flickered in Regina’s eyes, and she nodded once more. Then, with tears blurring her vision, she watched Raine leave in the car.
Raine glanced back at them, too, but her expression was cold, and a faint trace of resentment flickered in her eyes.
All these years, she had believed that they truly cared for her. However, she now realized it had all been superficial kindness.
Blood ties mattered more to them than anything else, but it didn’t concern Raine in the slightest. Once she became Mrs. Fuller, she would make these hypocrites pay.
Nancy stayed with Martha until nightfall before leaving.
She returned to her apartment building thereafter, planning to deliver her gift to Gideon.
As she waited for the elevator in the parking garage, she was surprised to see a familiar figure
emerge.
“Nancy!” The other person’s reaction was sharper and more exaggerated than Nancy expected.
Nancy narrowed her eyes.
It was Winter.
Winter ground her teeth, glaring at Nancy. She barked, “Nancy, have you no shame? You stalked Gideon all the way here?”
“Stalk?” Nancy found it laughable. “Winter, aren’t you the one stalking him right now?”
Winter opened her mouth to retort but froze when she saw the gift box in Nancy’s hands.
“A gift for Gideon?” she hissed before snatching the gift box.
Nancy hadn’t put her guard up and couldn’t help but frown. Winter had already ripped open

the gift box to find a leather belt, and her eyes burned red with indignation.

“Nancy, do you truly not have any shame? Giving a man a leather belt? Gideon wouldn’t want it. Forget about it!”
With that, Winter tossed the brand-new leather belt to the ground, instantly covering the pristine leather in dust.
“Winter!”
Nancy rarely ever lost her temper, but an icy, commanding air radiated from her at this moment. She grabbed Winter’s wrist firmly as she said, “Pick it up.”
“I won’t!” Winter replied firmly.
No sooner had the words left her mouth than a bone-crushing pain shot through her, forcing an involuntary scream.
“Ah! Let go of me!”
But no matter what she did, she couldn’t break free. Despite Nancy’s delicate and graceful appearance, her strength was astonishing.
Tears streamed down Winter’s face as she glared at Nancy, her eyes filled with hatred. “Nancy, you said you weren’t interested in Gideon, so what’s with this? Buying him gifts, spending so
much time with him…
“You left the Moore family just to reach for someone like Gideon? He’s way out of your league, so don’t even think about it! If he knew you liked him, do you think he’d even talk to you?”
At those last words, Nancy’s grip on Winter’s wrist loosened. Seizing the opportunity, Winter pulled her hand back and said vindictively, “I’m going to tell Gideon exactly how you feel, Nancy!”
With that, Winter ran off.
Nancy stood frozen, a sudden, unexplainable panic rising in her chest.
The thought that Gideon might avoid her in the future-or worse, never see her again-sent an unfamiliar sting of pain through her heart. She instinctively clutched her chest, startled by emotions she didn’t understand. They were strange, unfamiliar feelings that unsettled her completely.
Nancy wondered if it was true-as Winter had just pointed out-and that she really did have feelings for Gideon.
Her heart sank immediately.

Gideon had made it clear before that the only reason he spent time with her was that she wasn’t interested in him.
If she liked Gideon, he probably wouldn’t even keep in touch with her anymore. He would most likely push her away just like he did with Winter.
Feeling dazed, Nancy picked up the leather belt and stepped into the elevator.
The elevator doors slid open after arriving at her chosen floor, and Nancy stepped out. She pressed her fingerprint to the scanner to unlock the door, but nothing happened.
Looking up at the apartment number, she realized she had unknowingly arrived at Gideon’s place.
