Chapter 152 Making Up
Jasper finished his speech and waited for awe to flicker across Nancy’s or Gideon’s faces. But there wasn’t the slightest reaction. In fact, they didn’t so much as twitch.
Jasper frowned, then told himself they were just ignorant. In his mind, anyone aware of Fuller Group’s status in Riversdale would already be scrambling to bow at his feet.
“Whatever! I don’t have time to waste on you. You’ve got one minute. If you don’t lick my shoes clean, I’ll make sure you vanish from Riversdale,” Jasper threatened, his eyes narrowing.
“You don’t have that kind of pull,” Nancy said, staring at Jasper coldly. “I already told stop bothering me. Now, you’re picking on my boyfriend. Leave, or I won’t hold back.”
Jasper snapped. “Fine! I’ll wait for you to come begging me!”
He spun on his heel and stormed off.
Gideon asked, “The Lidells set him up with you?”
“Yeah. It was Regina,” Nancy replied.
“She really does have terrible taste,” Gideon said with clear disdain. “Do you want me to
handle him?”
Nancy met his eyes. “Yes, please.”
The corner of Gideon’s mouth lifted.
After dinner, they strolled down a pedestrian street.

When they passed a patisserie, Nancy’s gaze lingered on a beautiful cake in the window display.
“Do you want one?” Gideon asked.
“No. I’m full now,” she said.
Gideon still guided her inside, bought a slice, and pressed it into her hands. “Then save it for later.”
She accepted with a helpless smile.
The block was lined with stores. Every time Nancy so much as glanced at something, Gideon was already paying for it.
Before long, his hands were stacked with bags.

When Gideon headed toward a cotton candy vendor, Nancy finally put her foot down. “I said I didn’t want anything. Why do you keep buying me things?”
“Do you really not want them?” Gideon asked, looking at her. “Corey said that when a woman says no, she actually means yes.”
Nancy could only shake her head, somewhere between exasperation and amusement.
“Every couple is different. Maybe that works for other women, but not me. If I want
something, I’ll tell you.”
He looked at the mountain of shopping bags hanging on his arms. “So you really don’t want these?”
“I don’t.” She sighed. “But since you bought them, we’ll take them home. Just don’t do this again.”
“Okay, babe,” he said, nodding.
Seeing his arms loaded down, Nancy took half the bags from him.
“Darling, it’s fine,” Gideon protested softly. “I can carry them.”
Nancy slipped her empty hand into his.
The touch was soft and warm, and it nearly melted Gideon like cotton candy on the tongue.
“I’m not carrying anything,” she said. “We can share the load. If you carry everything and I just watch, what does that make me?”
“You’re right, darling,” he said at once.
Nancy’s lashes lowered as if she were weighing something.
“Darling, what’s wrong?” Gideon asked.
“But that’s not how you really think,” Nancy said. “You hid the fact that you can’t handle spicy food just to match my preferences. If you keep giving in like this, you’ll wear yourself out.”
Gideon was stunned, watching as the breeze lifted the ends of Nancy’s hair.
She met his gaze, her eyes bright and beautiful. “Do you see me as your girlfriend or not?”
“I…” Gideon opened his mouth but couldn’t find the words.
He had finally won the woman he loved over, so of course, he wanted to give her everything, even bend over backward for her if he had to.
