Chapter 160 He Only Cares About Nancy
Ian would never treat her the way Regina did. He would only ever care about Nancy.
That thought came instinctively to Nancy. But as if realizing something, she turned to Gideon, startled. He had picked up so quickly on what was really bothering her.
Gideon assured her. “Those who call you selfish are just angry they can’t take advantage of you. It’s the same for those who say you’re cruel. Those people always leech off others yet still manage to think of everyone else as stingy.”
“You’re right.” Nancy let out a sigh. “I let Regina get under my skin.”
Gideon looked at Nancy with a gentle gaze. “You’re fine just the way you are. Otherwise, I wouldn’t like you so much.”
Nancy felt her eyes well up with tears when she met his eyes.
Suddenly, she remembered something. “Wait. How did you even get in here?”
Gideon rubbed the bridge of his nose. “I texted you, but you didn’t reply. I was worried that something happened, so I picked your lock.”
“Thanks for caring about me.” Nancy gave him a helpless look. She was half touched, half exasperated.
“You’re not mad?”
“You did it for me. Why would I be?” Her expression softened as she squeezed his hand.
A smile tugged at Gideon’s mouth. “Then, sleep easy. I’ll stay right here with you tonight.”
With Gideon by her side, Nancy slept soundly.
Morning sunlight poured into the room.
Nancy washed up and stepped out of the bathroom. She soon spotted a figure moving around the kitchen.
Her lips curved as she stepped inside.
Gideon was frying an egg when he felt her arms wrap around him from behind. He froze like he had been struck by lightning. In that instant, the egg burned, and he scrambled to crack a new one.
Nancy let go and glanced at the pan. “It looks like Mr. Fuller still has some room for improvement in the kitchen.”
“Only because you distracted me, darling.” He shot her a helpless look.
“Did I scare you?”
“No.” Gideon chuckled. “It’s because I was happy.”
Nancy’s heart raced.
At breakfast, Nancy bit into a sandwich and found it delicious. Gideon’s sandwich, on the other hand, held the charred egg. He ate it bite by bite like it was nothing.
“Are you really going to eat that? Here, let’s switch,” Nancy offered.
“It’s still edible. Just drink your milk.” He poured her a glass.
Nancy pouted. “I’m not a kid. Drinking that much milk won’t do anything for my height.”
“Not true. Science says milk’s great for development.” His eyes flicked to her chest as he spoke.
Nancy’s face darkened. She pinched his arm.

“I didn’t mean it like that!” Gideon yelped.
“Yeah, right.”
He gave in instantly. “Alright, alright. My bad.”
She stared at him, then burst out laughing. Gideon raised an eyebrow. “What’s so funny?”
“You’re so serious at work, but here, you’re like a totally different person.”
“Of course. The people there are just employees. You’re my girlfriend.” His tone was serious. “So eat up, dear girlfriend. I’ll drive you to work later.”
“Okay.”
After breakfast, Nancy headed to the office, where she called Benny.
“Well, well. Look who it is. My precious mentee!” Benny’s laugh boomed through the line. “What’s the occasion? Coming to see me?”
“I do need your help, but not in person. I want you to look at my grandma’s case,” Nancy said.
His cheer dropped instantly. “Your grandma? That old bat again?”
“Not her,” Nancy explained. “My biological grandma.”
