Chapter 65 A Misunderstanding
Everyone was stunned by Mirella’s sudden move.
Her voice was firm as she said, “Ms. Moore, we’re even now. Is there anything else you want
me to do?”
“Why didn’t you come straight to me when you saw me last time? Why wait a few days before showing up?” Nancy regarded her with mild curiosity.
“Someone told me you were a homewrecker,” Mirella started hesitantly. “She said she was your sister. Her name’s Raine.”
Hannah and Nancy exchanged glances. Hannah’s temper flared. “Ms. Moore, Raine has crossed the line!”
“Are you two really sisters?” Mirella asked.
“She’s just the Lidells‘ adopted daughter. I’m their biological daughter.”
“What?” Mirella covered her mouth. Shock quickly gave way to anger. “So she lied to me! That wretched woman! I won’t let her off!”
After lashing out, Mirella looked back at Nancy with concern. “I knew you were from the Moore family and an adopted daughter, but I didn’t realize you were the Lidells‘ real daughter.
“If Raine told me that lie, I bet she’s said the same thing to many others. Do you want me to expose her for who she really is?”
“Do as you please,” Nancy replied.
Mirella ventured cautiously. “Ms. Moore… are you still mad at me?”
“What do you think?” Nancy said as she glanced at Mirella.
Mirella grinned sheepishly. “I think you’re too generous to hold a grudge. But still, if you ever need my help, just say the word.”
Nancy lowered her gaze. “You can leave now.”
“Alright!” Mirella turned, while Christopher offered Nancy an apologetic look. “Ms. Moore, I’m truly sorry for this.”
“Keep your guard up out there. Don’t let anyone use you again,” Nancy advised.
“I’ll make sure my girlfriend hears that. I won’t bother you any longer.” With that, Christopher left with Mirella in tow.

Back in the CEO’s office, Christopher sat behind his desk. His face was stern as he stared silently at Mirella.
She cleared her throat and crouched beside him. She began massaging his arm. “Babe, it was all my fault. I won’t do that again. Someone tricked me.”
“You mean to tell me that you believed one person’s word and went straight to confront Ms. Moore? Do you think that little of her and me?” Christopher’s tone was sharp. “We’ve been together for years. Do I seem like the kind of man who’d cheat?”
“Of course not! I was just scared! I know you’re the best, babe. This was my fault. From now on, I’ll think before I act,” Mirella swore as she raised her hand in mock solemnity.
