Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 154

Amelia didn't spare a second glance at the two women whose faces were flushed with embarrassment. She practically shoved Daniel into the car and climbed in after him, barking at the driver in the front seat, who was barely settled behind the wheel, “Go. Now.”

The luxury car sped off down the street.

Back on the sidewalk, the woman beside Tina gaped. “Amelia wasn’t just bragging—her husband really is rich and handsome. That car must be worth, what, close to a million…”

Tina’s expression was thunderous. “Shut up!”

Just then, a yellow Ferrari glided up to the curb and rolled to a stop beside them. The window slid down, revealing a pair of sharp, calculating eyes.

Tina recognized him instantly—Samuel, the infamous trust fund kid from Silkwood Institute of Technology.

He’d once been one of her targets, too, but the guy was tough to approach. Rumor had it he’d even gotten rough with women before. Tina hadn’t been confident she could win him over, so she’d never tried to flirt.

“Wanna grab dinner?” he asked, one hand lazily draped over the steering wheel.

Samuel was average-looking at best, but his family had money and power. Jealousy flared in Tina’s chest. If Amelia could land a rich guy, so could she—what was the big deal?

She slid into the passenger seat. After they’d driven for a while, Samuel suddenly spoke up. “You and Amelia seemed to have a pretty long chat back there. You two close?”

Tina couldn’t read his tone, so she smiled and played coy. “Well, do you want us to be close, or not?”

A shadow flickered in Samuel’s eyes, but he just smiled and didn’t answer.

Meanwhile, in the other car—

Amelia sat rigidly, her face tense. Daniel, amused by the way she was clearly fuming yet trying to hold it in, reached over to poke her soft cheek. “Did those two try to bully you? Want me to go back and teach them a lesson?”

She swatted his hand away. “Why did you get out of the car in the first place?”

His playful smile faded. “Am I that embarrassing to be seen with?”

Amelia hadn’t meant to say it out loud—it made her sound petty—but the frustration was stuck in her chest and she couldn’t hold it in.

“Violet Archives exists because you invested in it for Violet. Half the school knows that. And now you’ve just outed yourself as my husband. Do you have any idea what people are going to say about me behind my back? We’re supposed to be getting divorced—this could’ve all stayed quiet. But no, you have to stir things up. Daniel, I’m not asking for you to protect me anymore. I just want you to stop creating storms in my life. Is that really too much to ask?”

“Who said we’re getting div—”

That night, Amelia replayed the day’s events in her head, cursing Daniel under her breath. He might have enjoyed the drama, but she had no idea how to handle the fallout.

Tina’s big mouth was a problem at the best of times, and since they didn’t get along, who knew what kind of insane story she’d be spreading around.

Amelia was so wound up, she barely slept.

Strangely, the next day was quiet.

Well—not completely. That evening, Emily called, her voice buzzing with excitement like a kid in a candy store.

“You won’t believe this. Someone sent the security footage from the archives room to Mr. David’s wife. Now it’s a full-blown scandal at school—things are getting wild!”

Amelia froze. Instinctively, she thought of Daniel.

Who else had the authority to access the security footage and the nerve to send it out without a second thought? No one but him.

But why would he even bother?
