Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 165

“Mr. Wilson, you really should know better—respect your elders, care for your children. Sure, your mother is important, but so is your father’s mother.”

Daniel lingered at the edge of the chaos for a while, amusedly watching as Ian pinned Samuel—a man whose fighting skills had clearly taken a hit after losing a limb—down on the bed, landing blow after blow and cursing him out with every punch.

An old scoundrel berating a young scoundrel—the whole scene was strangely satisfying to watch.

It didn’t matter who the father and son ultimately chose; either way, this family was headed for a storm. Mayhem was inevitable.

Later that afternoon, Daniel heard from his staff that Ian had finally made the call, deciding to save the old lady.

It wasn’t until nearly evening the next day that anyone heard from Samuel’s mother. She’d been found adrift in a plastic dinghy on the open sea, rescued only when a passing yacht spotted her.

Mrs. Yolanda Wilson returned home, her face marked by exhaustion and the harsh sun, looking as though she’d aged a decade in just two days. As soon as she’d regained her strength, she erupted—screaming, sobbing, even threatening to throw herself off the roof. As luck would have it, a swarm of reporters had gathered below, cameras flashing as she teetered on the edge.

For someone of Ian’s stature, nothing was more terrifying than a public scandal. He scrambled desperately to keep the story out of the news, but before he could get a handle on things, disaster struck again. In the early hours of the morning, Samuel was arrested—charged with participating in the sexual assault of a minor.

The news hit Ian like a punch to the gut. Not just assault, but gang assault—and not against an adult, but a minor. There was no way he could protect his son this time. The evidence was ironclad, already in the hands of the police. By nightfall, the headlines were everywhere, the story spreading so fast there was no hope of damage control.

Amelia hadn’t been paying attention to Samuel’s drama. She only learned about it the next morning, when she saw his face plastered across the top stories in the local news.

It was impossible not to notice.

This time, there was no way Samuel could escape.

Leaving her room, she found Daniel just returning from his run, sweat darkening his hair and making his sharp features look even more striking.

“Was Samuel’s downfall your doing?” she asked.

Amelia felt his gaze and looked up. “Are you going to join me for breakfast, or are you just going to stand there staring?”

He walked over, pulled out the chair across from her, and sat down. Without even glancing at the spread on the table, he said, “None of this appeals to me.”

The chef was talented and inventive, making sure the breakfast menu changed every day. The whole table was covered with a variety of dishes, but somehow, Daniel still managed to complain.

Amelia pursed her lips. “You’re impossible to please.”

Daniel leaned back in his chair, drumming his fingers on the table. “I’m not talking about this breakfast. I meant another kind.”

She blinked, confused. “What other kind?”

He raised an eyebrow and gave her a look full of mischief—the kind you read about in stories, where a glance says everything. “Let’s just say, I used to have much more interesting breakfasts in the morning.”
