Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 185

The private clinic was spotless, and an attendant stayed by her side the entire time, gentle and attentive.

The doctor glanced over her previous prenatal records, then confirmed again, "Are you certain you want to end the pregnancy? You're at fifteen weeks now—it's too late for a simple procedure. You'd need an induction."

Amelia flinched at those words. Her fingers trembled as she struggled to speak, her voice barely audible. "…Is an induction really necessary?"

The doctor spoke kindly, "There's no need to be anxious. Both procedures end the pregnancy, but a standard abortion is only possible before ten weeks. At this stage, the fetus is much more developed. Induction is the only option."

So, the fetus was nearly formed—tiny limbs, a little person growing inside her.

Amelia felt cold all over. The nurse brought a cup of warm water and gently touched her icy hands, offering comfort. "You can rest a while and think it over if you need to…"

"No, there's no need." A vivid image flashed through Amelia’s mind: Violet’s rounded belly, Daniel at her side, fussing over her every need.

Amelia tightened her grip on the cup, drawing what warmth she could through the glass. "I'm sure. I don't want it."

The doctor patiently explained the induction process and what to expect afterward.

But Amelia barely heard any of it. Her mind drifted far away.

It wasn’t until she lay down for the ultrasound, the cold gel shocking her skin, that she snapped back to reality.

She turned her head and saw a small shadow on the monitor.

The image was blurry, but she knew what it was: a tiny person, complete with arms and legs, floating quietly in the warmth of her womb, waiting to be born.

The doctor finished and helped wipe the gel from her stomach.

"Why are you crying?" the doctor asked gently. As a woman herself, she seemed to understand. "You’re a mother, and you have the right to choose. There’s no need to feel ashamed or guilty."

Maybe it was just hormones, or maybe it was the way the unborn child sent out signals from inside her. Amelia’s emotions nearly broke her. She sat still for a long moment, then finally managed to thank the doctor.

That day, Daniel hadn’t stayed to finish the game with her. But he’d finished it with Violet.

How ironic. Here she was, waiting in a clinic for an abortion, while Daniel was out playing games with his first love.

The hallway was heated, but a window at the end was cracked open, letting in a draft of cold air along with the scent of something fresh.

When your heart turns cold enough, it becomes ice—nothing can ripple its surface anymore.

Amelia turned off her phone, stood up numbly, and said, "Let’s go. I’m ready for the OR."

When Amelia woke, everything around her was white. For a long moment, she felt completely lost.
