Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 316

“Go on,” Daniel said, sitting up and pulling a notebook from under the coffee table. Despite looking absolutely defeated, his expression was dead serious. “Tell me everything—I’ll write it all down.”

Finley ruffled his own hair in frustration and dropped onto the couch. “Daniel, why are you doing this to yourself?”

“Why am I doing this to myself…” Daniel mumbled as he typed the words.

“Not that part.” Finley was starting to think lovesickness ought to be classified as a major illness. He pushed Daniel’s hand away from the keyboard. “Daniel, snap out of it. If your ex still had feelings for you, she wouldn’t have had a baby with someone else. She’s moved on—she doesn’t even think about you. Why keep torturing yourself?”

Daniel slowly turned to look at him. “Am I pathetic right now?”

“The absolute worst,” Finley replied bluntly.

“Then why can’t I win her back?”

Finley was speechless for a moment before unleashing a string of colorful curses.

“Fine, fine,” Finley groaned, raking his hair into a mess. “If you and your ex are trying to drive me insane together, congratulations—you’ve succeeded.”

Daniel had no interest in his breakdown. “Help me out. I’ll personally oversee your project. If you pull this off, you’ll be able to take the next three years off.”

Ruby burst through the door after preschool, barely able to contain her excitement as she shared her news with Amelia.

“Mom! James invited me to his mom’s birthday party!”

“Really?” Amelia raised an eyebrow. Was preschool socializing really this intense now—kids getting invited to their classmates’ moms’ birthday parties?

“Did he only invite you?” she asked.

“No, he invited lots of kids from our class. Everyone’s going!” Ruby beamed.
