Love Me Back (Amelia and Daniel) novel Chapter 95

Amelia’s eyes widened in panic as she stumbled backward, putting as much distance as she could between herself and Samuel.

Samuel reached out, trying to grab her hand, but she moved too quickly and darted straight into the ladies’ restroom.

Inside, a woman was chatting loudly on the phone in one of the stalls, and the presence of another voice helped calm Amelia’s nerves a little.

Samuel had a reputation for being a playboy—back in college, he’d had a revolving door of girlfriends. Amelia had never been close to him and had no idea he was this twisted in private. Maybe it was the alcohol talking, maybe just his perverted nature, but whatever the reason, his words had thoroughly disgusted her.

She didn’t have her phone with her. Terrified of running into that creep again, she waited until the woman finished her phone call and left, then slipped out behind her.

Samuel was nowhere to be seen. He wasn’t outside the restroom or in the lounge. Someone mentioned that an important guest had arrived, and Samuel had gone over to greet him.

Even surrounded by the noise and chatter in the busy lounge, Amelia couldn’t shake off the chill Samuel’s words had left. She felt sick to her stomach just thinking about it.

Not wanting to risk another encounter with him, she made an excuse about feeling unwell and left early.

Out in the hallway, waitstaff passed by every now and then, which made her feel a bit safer. She stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the ground floor.

As the elevator descended, it suddenly stopped on the second floor. The doors slid open, and Amelia found herself staring straight at Samuel.

Her heart pounded. Instinctively, she reached for the close door button, but the elevator’s motion sensor kept the doors open as Samuel stepped inside.

Before she could react, his alcohol-scented hand clamped over her mouth, and he dragged her out of the elevator.

Amelia struggled in terror. She’d never imagined Samuel would be so bold as to attack her right where there were security cameras.

But his strength far outmatched hers—she was powerless in his grasp.

She tried to scream, her muffled cries echoing down the empty hallway, but to her horror, she realized the entire second floor of Midnight Delight Café was deserted. It was usually reserved for private events, but tonight, the rooms were empty and the lights dimmed, casting everything in shadow.

Elsewhere in the same building, Daniel nursed a glass of water, refusing every offer of alcohol, no matter who asked.

He grabbed his jacket and stood up. “Let’s call it a night. We’ll have a drink some other time.”

Mr. Clark protested. “Leaving already, Mr. Campbell? We’re not even halfway through dinner!”

Daniel’s handcrafted leather shoes barely made a sound on the plush carpet as he strode out of the private room. He paused in the hallway, straightened his shirt collar, and buttoned it up, regaining his usual air of composed elegance before knocking on the door of another lounge.

When the door opened, he scanned the room, but the person he was looking for wasn’t there. “Where’s Amelia?” he asked.

Someone replied, “She said she wasn’t feeling well and left early.”

Daniel frowned slightly, nodded his thanks, and turned to leave.

One of the guests at the table whispered, “Who was that? He’s gorgeous!”

A girl piped up, “That’s her boyfriend. She told me about him.”
