Amid Maxi’s enthusiasm, the fight did not begin immediately and Islinda sensed her opponent was dragging it out on purpose so he could make fun of her and probably lower her morale.
"Little Fae, I don’t hurt females. After all, my job is to love them, don’t you all agree with me?" The idiot called upon the crowd full of males and they supported him shamelessly.
Although the Fae appeared to be considerate of Maxi’s shortcomings, he was mocking her and the audience loved such a drama.
"Shut up and get on with the fight already," Maxi told him impatiently, flexing her shoulders. The fool talked too much and she was ready to kick some ass.
"Did you see that?" He addressed the crowd, "The little Fae has a bit of fire in her. Her type would be so energetic in bed!"
"Fuck this!" Islinda was so annoyed when the crowd went wild with laughter, thrilled with the fool’s words. Her anger only grew when some other Fae in the crowd started to throw dirty remarks at Maxi.
If only she was as strong as Aldric, she would have dealt with them and taught them how to respect females. To have thought this was a problem with human males, when it turned out such misogyny bypassed realms.
At this point, it became apparent that even Maxi had become bored because she stood at the spot with her arms akimbo, giving the Fae a long look.
"Are you done?" She asked, head tilted to the side indifferently.
"No," The idiot grinned, "I want to make you a deal instead."
Maxi’s eyes lit up, "What deal?"
He told her, "I would make things easier for you by letting you take the first punch."
The multitude burst into laughter knowing this signified her opponent looked down on her.
Maxi’s face wrinkled in thought, "That sounds too easy..." only for her expression to brighten, "But I’m going to kick your ass in the end, I don’t mind it."
The Fae snorted, obviously not believing Maxi would be able to land a scratch on him.
"Fine," He was amused, lowering his head and pointing at his face, "Have a go at it then. Land the first punch, pretty one."
Underestimating a female on a mission was the mistake of every egoistic male and the stupid Fae did not get to see the glint in Maxi’s eyes as she smirked devilishly at him.
Maxi began to swing her arm as if building momentum and it took her opponent everything in him to stifle his laughter. What the fuck was she doing? Does she think that move was going to change anything? Not that he wouldn’t love to see her try.
"I told you to trust me. Now we can drink all we want!" Maxi declared, grabbing her face and this time, pecking her on the forehead.
Islinda went red in the face at once. Maxi would be the death of her! Why was she so touchy-feely? Not that she was complaining, you know, but then.... Whatever!
Maxi did not care, if anything her reaction was cute. She threw her hand around Islinda’s shoulder, turned to the crowd, and lifted her hand with a roar.
As a race enamored with strength and power, the crowd cheered for her and went ballistic with celebration. The same Faeries who had thrown shades at Maxi rushed into the arena and lifted her off her feet. They carried her on their shoulders as the winner and the horse shifter shamelessly relished the feeling, encouraging them the more.
And thus, that was how a party came about and Maxi did not need to pay for drinks anymore. They offered her wine after wine as she and Islinda partied through the night.
Unknown to them both, two Fae’s stared at them from amongst the crowd, their faces hidden in their cloak.
"Don’t you think it’s high time we left already?" Issac asked Prince Aldric who had not taken his eyes off the two females who escaped his castle.
"Not yet. Not until I find out what Maxi has up her sleeve " Aldric answered grimly, having watched Maxi touch Islinda all night.
