Chapter 46 Telling on Harry

“Oh, yes. Thank you for being generous, Mr. Zimmerman. I came today to invite you out for a drink.” Jeremy slung an arm over Harry’s shoulders, smiling with sly delight.

The image of Jeremy beside Catherine lodged in Harry’s chest, choking him with fury.

It was like a thorn lodged in his heart, stabbing him from time to time and impossible to ignore.

Harry then brushed Jeremy’s hand off. His tone was laced with impatience. “Don’t celebrate too soon. Come back and brag when you’re actually married to her.”

“Don’t worry about that, Mr. Zimmerman. It’s only a matter of time.” Jeremy sat down across

from him as if it were his own office.

“Still not leaving?” Harry’s patience snapped.

Jeremy chuckled. “I told you we should have a drink together. Won’t you humor me, Mr. Zimmerman?”

Harry stared at Jeremy, certain the latter hadn’t come for drinks but to provoke him. The invitation was only an excuse to gloat.

He then calmly took off his watch, loosened his cuffs, and tugged at his tie.

The moment the men’s eyes met, the violence in them broke free.

A fist sliced through the air, swinging straight at Harry.

Stepping back and tilting his head aside, Harry dodged the punch and struck back without

hesitation.

The vast office turned into a battlefield.

Decorations toppled and shattered. Harry took a blow to the brow, and pain bloomed near his

eye.

Naturally, Jeremy took his share of pain with a sharp punch landing at the corner of his mouth.

He wiped the blood with the back of his hand, eyes glinting with fight. “Shall we go on?”

Harry touched his brow. Even the slightest brush sent pain shooting through him.

While Jeremy was almost exhilarated, Harry’s expression only grew darker.

Clenching his fists, Harry responded, “Sure.”

He never thought Jeremy would one day come to fight him over Catherine.

Rage burned in his chest, and each punch he threw carried greater force.

One landed hard in Jeremy’s gut. Hearing the man’s grunt made Harry feel grim satisfaction.

The next second, a sweeping kick sent Harry sprawling, and his back hit the ground with a dull

ache.

A fist then rushed toward his face, but Harry caught Jeremy’s arm, twisted, and used the momentum to throw him down.

Afterward, Harry raised his fist, ready to pound down, when Jeremy suddenly laughed and said, “I’ll return and tell Cathy you hit me.”

The punch froze midair.

Harry grabbed his collar and barked a laugh of fury. “Jeremy, do you have no shame?”

Jeremy swallowed the blood in his mouth. His voice was steady and calm. “If this wins me Catherine, shame is nothing.”

“Fuck you!” Harry’s fist crashed into his face.

Jeremy’s head snapped to the side, but he lay there laughing, wild and unrestrained. “Harry, do you know how long I’ve loved her? If I’d known you’d treat her like this, I would never have given her up to you.”
