Chapter 62 The Child You Carry is Mine
At that moment, Rachel truly wanted to throttle Harry. His blatant defense of Michelle was infuriating.
The silence was broken by Nigel. “Enough. Everyone, take a step back. Come with me to the
study.”
Harry held Nigel’s gaze for a moment before his sharp eyes shifted to Catherine.
What a cunning woman. Catherine had Nigel and Rachel rushing to her defense, siding with her against their own son.
Unfazed, Catherine met Harry’s gaze, then turned and walked away with Rachel without saying a word.
Harry and Michelle were the only ones left.
Michelle’s voice was faint. “Harry, maybe I should leave. It’s your mother’s birthday, and we shouldn’t upset her.”
“It’s fine,” Harry replied, his eyes darkening slightly.
“After all, someone else can make her happy.” He then led Michelle into the living room.
The party buzzed with prominent figures from the political and business world, all familiar faces often seen on television.
Rachel had wanted to introduce Catherine to them, but Catherine had politely declined.
While the banquet carried on downstairs, Catherine rested quietly in a room upstairs. A maid entered with a tray of pastries. “Mrs. Zimmerman, these are from Ms. Rachel.”
Catherine corrected her gently. “I’m divorced from Harry. I’m no longer part of the Zimmerman family.”
The maid’s smile didn’t waver. “But Ms. Rachel still thinks of you as Mrs. Zimmerman. She specifically asked us to address you that way. Please, enjoy your snack.”
Realizing it was pointless to argue, Catherine let it go. She picked up a small piece of pastry and was about to take a bite when the door swung open.
