Chapter 67 Harry Actually Cares About Her

Harry’s words made Catherine’s body tense up again.

She lowered her eyes and whispered, “Harry, you have so much already, and you’re not lacking women. Why do you have to fight me for this child?”

Behind her, there was nothing but Harry’s steady breathing. He had already fallen asleep and probably didn’t hear a single word she said.

Catherine lifted his arm from her waist and slowly sat at the edge of the bed. She found herself thinking back to the kiss she just shared with Harry.

She touched her lips and couldn’t help but laugh at herself. That look in his eyes had almost tricked her into believing that Harry actually cared about her.

In truth, it wasn’t that Harry cared. He was only being considerate for the child’s sake. Without the child in the picture, he never did look at her kindly.

Catherine stood up and went into the guest room next door. She had grown used to sleeping

alone.

The night slipped by.

Cathrined rubbed her tired eyes, and her lower back felt a little sore. She sat up for a while, gazing out at the courtyard beyond the window.

She knew it was time to head back.

Catherine had just finished washing up when she opened the door and saw Harry stepping out

of his room.

He had just finished showering, his damp hair and bare chest still glistening with water. Droplets ran down the defined lines of his torso, disappearing at his waist.

Catherine looked away and slipped past him without a word.

Harry blocked her path, asking, “Why did you leave last night?”

Her voice was polite yet distant as she answered, “We’re already divorced, so sharing the same bed would be inappropriate.”

Harry stared at her face, his Adam’s apple moving for a moment before he finally remarked in a low voice. “I explained everything to you yesterday, didn’t I?”

“Yes, you did,” Catherine replied. She moved off to the other side, clearly not wanting to have much contact with him.

Harry frowned. He had already explained everything, yet Catherine still looked so cold. He wondered what had gone wrong.

He thought of telling her that she could stay in the Zimmerman residence with the child and that he would never stop her from seeing their child.

After all, the child wasn’t his alone-it was hers too.

But now it seemed that Catherine didn’t appreciate that thought. He wondered if she wanted

the child all to herself.

Harry’s expression darkened. He had already backed down so much for the sake of the child, and he couldn’t understand what more Catherine could possibly be dissatisfied with.

He questioned whether she could possibly want the child to take her surname. That would be impossible.

While Catherine ate breakfast, she sensed that something was off with Harry’s mood. He

seemed even colder toward her than before.

The atmosphere at the dining table had grown tense.

Catherine pretended not to notice. She quietly finished a glass of milk and tore her toast into

small pieces before eating them.

Harry kept Catherine in his peripheral vision. After several minutes of silence, he slammed his glass on the table with measured force.

“Catherine, what do you want?” he asked.

Catherine had little appetite and left half her toast untouched. She picked up a napkin and dabbed at the corners of her lips.

“I want nothing. There’s nothing left for us to discuss. As for the child, I will never give in,”

she said.

Harry’s tone grew sharper. “Then we really have nothing left to discuss. Even if this ends court, the child will still be mine.”
