My Great Escape Led Me to You novel Chapter 126

Andrew Lane watched with icy detachment as Emily Blair lost all control, his expression and movements giving nothing away. Only the fine sheen of sweat gathering on his brow betrayed him.

Emily sobbed, her voice shaky and desperate. “It hurts… It hurts so much…”

She clung to his sleeve, refusing to let him pull away, not for a second.

Andrew closed his eyes, drew in a long, steadying breath, and when he opened them again, the storm of desire threatening to break loose in his gaze was forcibly suppressed.

He reached down, prying her trembling hands from his arm with a firm grip. His voice was rough, low. “I’m taking you to the hospital. Right now.”

Emily only sobbed louder. “No! I don’t want to!”

The next instant, she broke free from his grasp, ignored the seatbelt digging into her side, and practically launched herself at him, wild and unthinking.

“I want—”

Andrew caught her as she crashed into his chest. His hands, tense with restraint, hovered at her sides, refusing to embrace her, his eyes squeezed shut as he tried to endure Emily’s desperate fumbling.

Her mind was a foggy mess. Hands shaking, she clutched at the hem of his shirt, half-kneeling on the backseat, her lips brushing clumsily along his cheek, searching and needy.

Andrew held himself back with every ounce of willpower.

When he finally opened his eyes, there was a dangerous glint of red at their edges.

He fixed Emily with a warning look, voice taut with command. “Emily, this is the last time I’m going to say this.”

“Stay away from me.”

Yet even as he spoke, his hand lifted, slow and unwilling, to catch her as she almost slid off the seat.

Sweat dripped from his brow. “Emily, if you keep this up, you won’t be able to handle the consequences when you wake up.”

But Emily was beyond reason, ignoring his words, pressing in closer.

Suddenly, his arms locked around her waist, pulling her down onto the car seat. His body, broad and solid, came down on top of her, pinning her in place.

His restraint snapped, voice rough and low in her ear. “Emily, you asked for this.”

All Emily could feel was an overwhelming rush of joy—joy that he was finally close, that he wasn’t pushing her away.
