Andrew Lane spoke in a low voice. “Alright, I’ll have my assistant handle it. You don’t need to worry about a thing.”

Isabella Austin gave him a gentle smile. “Thank you, Andrew.”

Arianna George frowned slightly and lowered her head, feeling a twinge of regret.

The Starlight Piano Competition finals had always placed a premium on originality, so the scoring rubric for the finals was different from earlier rounds. In the final, original compositions made up five percent of the overall score. It might not seem like much, but it was enough to tip the balance in a close contest.

That’s why all the other contestants had chosen to perform their own original piano pieces.

All except Emily Blair. She hadn’t selected a composition of her own.

Instead, she was playing a piece composed by Isabella Austin.

That meant Emily Blair had already forfeited that five percent of her score. Unless her performance was absolutely extraordinary, it would be nearly impossible for her to compete with the other talented finalists.

Thinking about the complicated relationship between Emily Blair and Isabella Austin made Arianna’s head ache.

Most of the audience were there as Isabella Austin’s fans. Arianna could only hope they wouldn’t get too upset—or worse, disrupt the proceedings.

No sooner had she thought this than the crowd behind her suddenly erupted.

“Emily Blair, get off the stage!”

“Emily Blair, withdraw! Emily Blair, withdraw! Emily Blair, withdraw!”

Arianna’s heart sank. She turned to see who was causing the commotion in the audience.

Thankfully, after what happened with Larry Mitchell, the security team was quick to react. They rushed over, standing guard at the edge of the crowd like sentinels, faces grim as they fixed the troublemakers with hard stares.

“Keep quiet! If you try to disrupt the competition again, you’ll be removed from the venue.”

The hecklers paled, clearly shaken. Though they glared resentfully at security and folded their arms in protest, they shut their mouths.

Because security responded so quickly, the commotion didn’t affect Emily Blair at all.
