Chapter309
Her fingers tightened unconsciously on Geoffrey’s shirt.
As they exited the banquet hall, Alex–having just learned of the scandal–hurried over and collided with Geoffrey carrying Maureen at the entrance.
Alex was about to speak when Geoffrey walked right past him.
He immediately asked the servant who’d been inside what happened.
“Young Master Edward got drunk and harassed Maureen, so Master Geoffrey had him thrown into the river.”
Harassing Maureen?
Alex’s gaze turned icy.
“Nobody stopped him?”
The servant shook her head. Facing gentle Alex, she said: “No one dared. Everyone was scared.”
“What about Elizabeth?”
The servant scratched her head: “Maybe she didn’t see.”
Alex understood instantly. How could she not see? She just didn’t want to get involved.
He never liked Elizabeth much to begin with, and now felt downright disgusted.
How could she pretend not to see this at their own engagement party?

Maureen followed Geoffrey back to their place,
Knowing she was shaken, Geoffrey held her tight.
“Don’t
go
to those places anymore. Just stay home.”
Maureen calmed slightly: “Thank you.”

Hearing this, Geoffrey said: “Remember, we’re married. As your husband, this is what I do.

Maureen listened to this and no longer felt angry about Geoffrey having someone follow and photograph her last time.
“Then if you have anything in the future, tell me directly. No more being sarcastic.”
Geoffrey knew she was forgiving him and immediately agreed: “Okay, I promise.”
After clearing things up, Maureen got up from Geoffrey’s embrace and prepared to go back to the bedroom to rest.
Geoffrey also stood up, wanting to follow her.
“You still sleep in the living room.”
Maureen said.
Geoffrey was stopped at the door, feeling somewhat helpless.
Elsewhere, the frozen river.
Edward’s clothes had been stripped off, shivering uncontrollably, his lips purple.
“You people, I’ll remember you!
You just wait.”
The bodyguards saw Edward was still being stubborn and truly didn’t realize the seriousness of the situation.
A few stepped forward, used machinery to break the ice, dragged Edward, and threw him into the freezing water.
“Ah-”
With a scream, Edward plunged into the water, unable to speak.
Seeing him struggling to swim out, the bodyguards pressed his head down again and again.
Edward finally realized Geoffrey truly wanted his life.
“I was wrong, I was wrong. Please tell Geoff‘ quickly, I won’t dare again.”

The bodyguards called Geoffrey.
Geoffrey sat alone in the living room, his tone icy. “Keep going! Finish him off!”
He couldn’t care less about Edward–dead or alive made no difference.
The bodyguards obeyed, raining down blows until Edward couldn’t even beg for mercy.
ZOR VOUCHER
Without Geoffrey’s order, they dared not stop. Only when a luxury car arrived did they pause. Nicholas stepped out, leaning on his cane, followed by Edward’s son Willie.
“Daddy!” Willie sprinted toward Edward.
Nicholas barked coldly: “Stop! Are you trying to kill a man?”
The bodyguards immediately contacted Geoffrey. After receiving his confirmation, they finally withdrew.
That very night, Edward was rushed to intensive care–he almost didn’t make it.
Sutton Family Estate.
Maureen lay in her room, calling Zoe and her two children.
Zoe told Maureen that her health had improved a lot recently, so Maureen shouldn’t worry.
Maureen then called Ethan, and the nurse there said the child was already asleep.
When she called Jacob, the video call had just connected, and Maureen saw a lavishly decorated children’s room on the other end.
“Jacob?”
Jacob, dressed in a crisp little suit, appeared in front of the camera like a little adult.
“Mommy, sorry, I was too busy just now.”
