Maureen clenched the ring tightly, the band digging deep into her palm, her heart swelling with guilt for mistaking the person.

She took out her phone and replied to Alex: “Okay.”

The moment she left, Geoffrey summoned Wayne.

After checking the car footage, Wayne told him: “Mrs. Sutton took out a box in the car, and there was a ring inside.”

Wayne felt awkward. Though the car had cameras, none captured Maureen’s phone screen.

He’d guessed she was replying based on her movements alone.

After reporting truthfully to Geoffrey, silence hung heavy before Geoffrey ordered: “Later, have someone steal that ring.”

The boss really had to control everything, even investigating such trivial matters.

“Will you head back now?”

Wayne asked.

Geoffrey sat in the car, rubbing his temples. “Not until we get that item.”

Sitting with Geoffrey made Wayne thoroughly uncomfortable. He just wanted to go soothe his fiancee, who was throwing another fit.

The two waited in the car for nightfall. Only then could their men sneak in to steal the ring.

Maureen returned and casually dropped the gift bag on the table before heading to Zoe’s room to relieve the caregiver.

After the specialist’s treatment, Zoe’s spirits had improved significantly. If she kept this up, she might live several more years.

Neither noticed the intruder slipping inside.

Soon, the ring box was delivered to Geoffrey.

Wayne opened it, eyeing the cheap–looking ring. “This tacky thing can’t be from Alex, can it?”

Geoffrey refused to believe Alex would give such a pitiful Wedding Favor.

“Looks like initials–XS, LNC. Isn’t that Maureen and your name, boss?”

“Cheap but heartfelt. See these crooked letters? Hand–engraved… Teh teh. Told you she adores you. She’s just playing coy now–you’re still in her heart. Hell, my girlfriend never crafts me anything.”

Wayne rattled on, oblivious to Geoffrey’s darkened expression.

Geoffrey didn’t let Wayne see the previous video, so Wayne had no idea Alex had given this to Maureen.

Geoffrey took the ring, pondering briefly. The only explanation was that Maureen had once given it to Alex.
