Chapter330
Remembering this, Maureen deliberately chose affordable bright–colored outfits for Geoffrey.
“Justin, pick out a couple outfits too?”
Justin stood by the entrance. Hearing Maureen, he froze briefly before declining instantly: “Unnecessary.”
“Thanks.”
Maureen pondered.
She remembered Justin had gone back to his hometown to break off his engagement. Was he seeing someone now, making it awkward for her to buy him clothes?
Maureen quickly explained, “Don’t get me wrong–pick whatever you like. I’m reimbursing you as your boss. If your girlfriend finds out, she won’t mind.”
As a woman, she knew boundaries. Buying clothes for men with girlfriends or wives crossed a line.
Something unreadable flickered across Justin’s stoic face. “I don’t have a girlfriend.”
“I’m refusing because my salary is enough.”
He’d ended the engagement partly because it was an arranged marriage with no real feelings, and partly due to his fiancee’s betrayal.
Maureen grew even more uncomfortable.
“Alright.”
She noted how remarkable it was for a bodyguard to turn down perks from his boss.
She decided to reward him with several months‘ extra pay during the next payroll period.
With their shopping done, they headed to the underground parking garage. Justin loaded her bags into the trunk one by one.
Just then, five or six men wielding metal pipes emerged from a gloomy corner.

Justin’s eyes narrowed coldly. “Get in the car,” he told Maureen
“Okay. Be careful.”
She pulled open the door and slid into the driver’s seat.

The leader saw Justin’s tall frame and fair complexion, thinking he was all bark and no bite.
“We’re after this woman. Beat it if you value your life.”
Justin ignored him, calmly storing items before shutting the trunk.
“Who sent you?”
The leader sneered: “None of your damn business!”
“Beat it if you wanna live!”
he repeated.
Justin’s slender fingers unbuttoned his suit jacket, tossing it aside casually.
The leader raised an eyebrow: “Dumb enough to stay? Get him!”
Their employer was powerful and influential anyway – casualties wouldn’t matter.
Several burly men charged at Justin.
From the car, Maureen watched Justin kicking them down one by one.
Within fifteen minutes, all six men lay howling on the ground, unable to rise.
Justin stepped on the leader’s hand: “Talk. Who sent you?”
The leader let out a sharp cry, begging for mercy.
“Don’t know! Just some secretary named Li! Please, I’ll give you her number!”
After Justin learned the information, he called the police and had them taken away.
Then he got in the car and told Maureen, “Must’ve been hired help. I’ll look into it when we’re
back.”
“Okay.”
Maureen also wanted to know exactly who was trying to harm her.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth sat in a car near the mall, waiting to hear about Maureen’s humiliation when her secretary called.
“Elizabeth, Maureen’s got some tough bodyguard who took down our guys and sent them to the police.”
“One bodyguard?
Took out several men?”
Elizabeth couldn’t believe it.
“Yeah.”
Elizabeth clenched her phone, furious. “She got off easy! You’re useless–hiring such trash?”
The secretary didn’t dare respond.
Elizabeth pressed, “What about targeting her studio?”
“W–we still haven’t found her studio.”
The secretary lowered her head, avoiding Elizabeth’s gaze.
Elizabeth hurled her phone at her. “What good are you?”
The secretary’s head started bleeding.
Elizabeth was about to scream at her when she noticed pedestrians staring. She straightened up instantly.
“Sit properly and tell the driver to go.‘
Her tone softened. “You should watch yourself. My phone slipped and hit you by accident.”
“Get the doctor to bandage you up when we get back.”
Elizabeth acted like a high–and–mighty swan outside, treating casual favors as grand gestures of charity.
“Okay.”
Her secretary didn’t dare say anything, keeping her head bowed without looking up.
