Obsession His Runaway Bride (Noelle and Adrian) novel Chapter 52

Chapter 52: Pity

Chapter 52. Pity

Adrian’s screams filled the darkness of the observation room. His hody jerked against the restraints, his wrists bleeding, his face contorted in agony as he begged for something already lost is pain was suffocating, his cries nothing short of desperate.

But it was all a lie.

Beyond the glass, the lifeless form in the doctor’s hands was nothing more than a carefully crafted deception. It was merely a silicone replica meant to mimic what Adrian feared most. The woman lying unconscious on the operating table, halfcovered by sterile blue sheets, was not Noelle. She was merely a hired double that Valerian had chosen to be part of, knowing that in Adrian’s state of panic, he wouldn’t notice the subtle differences.

The real Noelle stood just a few feet behind Adrian, hidden in the darkness of the observation room.

Tears streamed silently down her face, her hands trembling as she clutched at the fabric of her gown. She had agreed to this. She had thought she was prepared to see Adrian suffer, to hear him break the way she had.

But now, as she stood there, watching him break before her eyes, something deep inside her ached.

She had convinced herself that Adrian would never love the child that it was only a reminder of the deception and betrayal he had built their relationship on. She thought he would be furious, enraged that she dared to take something from him.

But she had been wrong.

The way he screamed. The way his voice pleaded. The way he sobbed.

It wasn’t anger.

It was the pain of loss.

Noelle’s lips quivered, and even in the darkness of the room, Valerian saw the shift in her. The way her body trembled, the way her arms wrapped around herself as if to hold in the guilt that was slowly consuming her.

She wasn’t ready for this.

She wasn’t ready to see this side of Adrianthe man who had hurt her, the man who had taken everything from her, now breaking over something she had been so sure he would never want.

And yet, here he was, crying his heart out for a child he believed was gone.

And Noelle

Noelle was starting to wonder if she had been selfish to believe he never could have loved it.

~~Quick Flashback~~

I’ll ask one last time,he said, his voice eerily calm. Do you want to keep it?

Noelle didn’t hesitate this time.

She shook her head.

No,she whispered.

Valerian gave a slow, deliberate nod.

Then it will be done.

But as he was about to stand, Noelle suddenly stopped him.

But just as he was about to stand, Noelle’s fingers weakly grasped his wrist, stopping him.

-End of Flashback-

Valerian sighed as he watched Noelle struggle to contain her sobs while her hand was pressing against her barely showing belly. He had known this might be a mistake, but he had agreed to her request anyway. And now, she was breaking.

His silvergrey eyes flicked back to Adrian, who was still convulsing with ragged, uneven breaths while shaking from grief and exhaustion. The sight of the two of them both suffering, both crying made Valerian exhale sharply.

This had gone on long enough.

Without a word, he reached for the nearby switch and flipped it on. The oncedark room was instantly flooded with harsh, fluorescent light. Then, he rapped his knuckles against the glass, signaling to his men inside the operating room.

It was over.

The show was over.

The tension inside the operating room instantly broke as the medical team visibly relaxed. The woman who had been playing Noelle slowly sat up, pulling off the oxygen mask while rubbing her wrists where the straps had held her down. The doctor set the fake fetus aside, removing his gloves calmly, while the nurses quickly began packing up. Within seconds, the oncesterile, highpressure environment of the operating room had dissolved into nothing more than a staged act dismantling itself.

Valerian, on the other hand, turned his gaze back to the two figures in the room with him.

He sighed again, dragging a hand down his face before he reached for Adrian’s chair, With slow, careful movements, he turned

it around.

And then, without a word, he stepped out of the room to give them some space.

Adrian barely registered the motion at first, too lost in his own pain, his body wrecked and trembling, barely able to breathe. His wrists ached, blood oozing from the torn skin where the leather straps had dug in. His eyes were swollen, his vision blurredhe didn’t even care if Valerian had come back to hit him again. He had nothing left to fight with.

But all of a sudden, a soft, familiar voice echoed in the room reaching his ears.

Adrian.

His breath caught in his throat.

Slowly, painfully, he lifted his head to see if he was hearing right.

And the very second he saw her standing thereher dark eyes wet with tears met his bloodshot eyes.

A choked sob ripped from his throat, raw and unrestrained. His bruised and battered face crumpled as a fresh wave of emotions crashed over him, overwhelming, unbearable. His body shook, his ribs heaving as he wept like a child seeing his mother after

being lost for too long.

There in front of him was Noelle, crying with pity for him.
