Chapter102.
Before I could delve deeper into the thought, Caitlyn unexpectedly addressed me, “Come on, Kaylie, you wouldn’t dare refuse, would you? If you don’t go, well… I happen to have that old pregnancy test result of yours. I will tell Leland you’re pregnant. Do you really think he’ll just let it slide? I bet he’d beat you until you miscarried!
“He loathes the idea of your pregnancy, you know. He sees it as a stain, a disgrace. Your child carries the Perez name, not Pearson’s. Now, what do you honestly think he’ll do?”
My breath hitched. How on earth did Caitlyn find out? Could she have dug it up at the hospital?
A chilling realization struck me. I’d forgotten about the hospital director’s suspicious connection to her. What else might Caitlyn know?
“Caitlyn, don’t forget you’re pregnant too. Don’t you value your child? Maybe you should think twice about whether you should go to the gathering and drink.”
Caitlyn laughed, a sharp, victorious sound, “Oh, I cherish Leland’s child more than anything. You’re the one expected to drink. If Leland truly loved you, he wouldn’t allow it. But I’m betting he doesn’t love you anymore, and maybe, just maybe, a part of him wouldn’t mind seeing you dead!”
Thinking of Leland, flashes of the care he’d shown over the years, and the couple we were supposed to be, I felt my heart break, a fragile smile touched my lips.
This was his child too. Could he really force me to drink, forcing me towards death?
I refused to believe it!
A surge of defiance coiled within me, sharp and sudden. Ignoring the fear gnawing at my insides, I slid into the car beside Caitlyn.
The car glided smoothly towards the Nightclub bar-the very place Denise and I had once confronted and beat Caitlyn.
Caitlyn directed the driver to a private room, the same one where she and Leroy had once put on their nauseating display.
Pushing the door open, I saw him immediately-Leland, seated comfortably between two overweight, middle-aged men.
