Old Dreams No Return (Serena) novel Chapter 148

Chapter126.

Maru)

Leland shook his head frantically. “I had my reasons, Carlie. I thought I was going to die soon. I just wanted Kaylie to become strong, to grow through my methods.’

Is that so? She wrote a divorce agreement and left with nothing a month ago, and you still pushed her! She’s incredibly talented; she designed over a doren nominated projects for your company, including the hugely successful ‘Fire Youth’ clothing line. She even ran three hospitals behind your back, Leland. Did she really need you to force her to grow? You’re something else!”

The disbelief warred with panic in Leland’s eyes. “No! Kay can’t do anything. I’ve spoiled her! I thought I was going to die and she couldn’t even cook. How would she survive? So I let Caitlyn expose herself to help me push her to strive harder. I really didn’t mean anything else!”

Carlie sneered again, You were never really sick. From the moment you were hospitalized, I knew you were only injured, not dying. Caitlyn knew it too, but she kept trying to use you. You don’t love Kaylie anymore; you love your mistress. That’s why you believed Caitlyn and teamed up with her to hurt

Kay.”

Leland kept shaking his head. “No, no! It’s not like that!”

Carlie added more fuel to the fire, “Leland, just admit it. You never put Kaylie first, never truly had her in your heart! Saying she’s your life is just self-deception. You’re just unable to face the fact that Kaylie’s parents funded you and you can’t account for it after you die!”

Her anger flared higher.”So, Leland, please get out of the hospital. I don’t want to see you ever again, and neither will Kay!”

With that final, cutting remark, Carlie turned and left, leaving Leland slumped on the floor. His face twitched uncontrollably, a mask of utter despair.

Raul carefully helped him up. He then delivered the next blow, reporting my whereabouts-or rather, my absence.

“Mr. Pearson, we checked the flight times to the six countries-those tickets Ms. Perez bought. The departure times are all staggered. From midnight las night until now, there’s no record of her name on any tickets to those countries. We have absolutely no idea where Ms. Perez went.*

Leland exploded, his fury boiling over. “Investigate! Go and investigate. Find her! It’s impossible for someone to buy tickets to six countries without raising suspicions. Unless she used different names. Start the search now. Find her!”
