Chapter154.
I felt a wave of dizziness wash over me. “My head is spinning. I need to lie down.”
Tyrell quickly swept me into my private room. “Anya, rest up first. I’ll get lunch ready. And just let me know if you need anything at all.”
I pressed my hands to my eyes. He really took care of me with great attention to detail.
Whenever he showed concern for me, I found myself feeling bewildered.
Lying on the bed, I was overwhelmed by a whirlwind of unsettling emotions.
Recalling the sorrowful tears in Leland’s eyes, I furrowed my brows, and my own tears began to spill unchecked.
Fleeting memories now felt distant and faded, leaving a hollow ache in my heart.
Just then, Denise’s call came through, her voice brimming with excitement.
“Kay, you’re incredible! I couldn’t wait to see you. You really made an impression. Allen and Tyrell, the international design master, just dropped by our company. Can you believe they’re our new vice presidents?”
A faint smile touched my lips. Tyrell certainly moved fast, making his presence known at the Leslie Group in under half an hour.
A sliver of joy stirred within me.
Then Denise’s chatty voice piped up again,”Oh my gosh, the current boss meeting the ex-do you think there’ll be a quarrel? But Mr. Pearson looked absolutely terrible. Honestly, you’d almost feel sorry for him.”
I took a slow, steadying breath.”Denise, keep an eye on him for me, will you? I’m worried he might do something drastic.”
Denise clapped a hand over her mouth.”No way, Kaylie. Can I really keep an eye on Mr. Pearson? Besides, do I have the authority to do that? What I really wanted to tell you is that Raul just mentioned Mr. Pearson sent Caitlyn to a brothel. She’s a top-tier escort, and Leland demanded she see no fewer than three clients a day.”
I gasped, covering my mouth in shock. For a moment, I was speechless. I knew Leland loved me, but his brand of love felt suffocating.
Caitlyn’s fate, however, was utterly unexpected. I reached for the ring on my finger and quietly slipped it off.
