Old Dreams No Return (Serena) novel Chapter 33

Chapter 11

MARK

Everything I said is true. You’re worthless, an orphan no one wants. Even in the Design Department, you’re only there because Leland put you there. What have you ever achieved? If it weren’t for your parents forcing him, Leland would never have married you. You are just a pitiful creature that no one loves!

I laughed coldly, stepping closer.

child?”

What are you going to do? Oh, by the way, I’m pregnant. Do you think Leland will forgive you if he finds out you

With a bang, another hard slap landed on her face. The anger I had been holding back for days finally erupted.

Caitlyn screamed, stumbling back and falling to the floor near Leland. She covered her face, pretending to be the victim.

Ms. Perez, what did I do wrong? I only brought Mr. Pearson home because he was drunk. I didn’t mean anything by it!”

Just then, Leland sat up, rubbing his temples.”I feel awful. Kay, what’s going on?” He reached for my hand.

I pulled away, disgusted by his touch.

Leland turned to Caitlyn, his face filled with concern as he helped her up.”Are you okay? What happened?”

Caitlyn’s face was covered in tears.”Mr. Pearson, I’m so sorry. I just brought you home. Ms. Perez hit me for no reason. My stomach hurts so much!”

I felt my heart breaking, too exhausted to say a word.

Leland’s dazed eyes glared at me.’

“Kaylie, no matter what, you can’t hit her. Have I spoiled you rotten? You’re becoming more and more ill-mannered. Apologize to Caitlyn right now!”

I looked at Leland in disbelief, pointing at myself.”Leland, are you saying I’m ill-mannered?”

What else? I neglected to discipline you in these past few years due to my busy schedule. You can’t act so spoiled and unreasonable!”

I let out a bitter laugh. He cheated on me, let his mistress barge into our home, insulted my family, and now he was scolding me for defending myself.

Did he really think I was so clueless and easily fooled?

I can be even more ill-mannered,” I said coldly, my voice dripping with disgust as I looked at them.

But Leland, reeking of alcohol, spoke in a tone like some stern parent.”What kind of attitude is that? I told you to apologize!”
