The motorcyclist was taken aback, then stopped the bike, and took off his helmet to greet his companion.

With a black lace sock over his head, I didn’t recognize him.

The man who got out of the van wore a black baseball cap and a black mask, and from his silhouette, he did resemble Leroy.

But should I reveal his identity?

Watching Denise and Efrain tend to Johan, I finally decided to take a gamble, “Leroy, right?”

The man, with a stunned and amused expression on his face, looked at me.”Wow, Ms. Perez actually knows me?”

Leroy flicked the cigarette stylishly and circled around me with a roguish grin and his hands in his pockets.

I kept calm, ignoring my trembling legs, and tidied my hair with a hint of panic.

I told myself, if I wasn’t afraid of death, why should I be afraid of him?

With a slight smile, I patted Leroy’s shoulder and said, “You’re not bad yourself, but isn’t 12 million dollars too little for my life? Leroy, how about earning 200 million dollars?”

Leroy was taken aback and burst into laughter, “Haha, Ms. Perez, you have guts. Are you trying to tempt me to switch sides and turn against my employer?”

I smirked confidently, “As long as the money is in place, what can’t be done? After all, who doesn’t like money?”

Yet, Leroy lit a cigarette, took a drag, and looked at the encroaching darkness with a thoughtful expression, eyeing me appraisingly.

We can’t break the rules of the underworld, so you might be disappointed, Ms. Perez. Money is good, but first come, first served. We need to stay alive to enjoy it.”
