I lowered my attitude completely, something I had never done before. The words felt foreign on my tongue, but I forced them out anyway.
“Elena, I’m sorry. I was wrong today.”
She stared at me for several seconds, her green eyes wide with shock. Then she seemed to
snap back to reality, pushing against my chest with her elbow.
“I’m dizzy,” she said, her voice slightly slurred from the wine I could smell on her breath.
I didn’t let go of her. Instead, I stared at her with my dark golden eyes, studying every detail of
her flushed face.
“You always make excuses when you don’t want me to touch you.”
Elena stiffened inexplicably. When she didn’t respond, I made a decision that surprised even
myself.
I picked her up horizontally, feeling her body tense in my arms.
“What are you doing!” she protested, her heart thumping against her ribs.
I placed her gently on the bed. She immediately reached out to pull the quilt, wrapping herself
tightly like a protective cocoon.
I had expected her to avoid me. Seeing her defensive movements, I smiled bitterly.
“If I really want to touch you, can you avoid it?”
Elena’s face darkened. It seemed that in the next second, she would say something harsh to
cut me down.
My voice dropped to a low, hoarse whisper. “I won’t force you anymore.”
(Elena’s POV)
I was stunned and looked at him hesitantly. Although I didn’t quite dare to believe what Marcus said, it was the first time I had seen him retreat step by step, with an attitude so low.

Love will make people humble. He’s finally realizing it, isn’t he?

The thought struck me unexpectedly. Was this what love looked like when it finally broke through pride and arrogance?
I did not respond for a long time. He sat by the bed for a while, then retracted his gaze and
slowly got up.
“You should rest early.”
He left the bedroom without another word. I watched his back disappear through the
doorway, perhaps because I had drunk red wine, so I had such a complicated mood.
Maybe I would be fine after a sleep.
(Sophia’s POV)
The next day, in a suburban healing facility, I woke up to find myself receiving an IV drip in the
hospital. The sterile white walls seemed to mock my situation.
The female healer walked in with my medical records, her expression professional but
concerned.
“Ms. Rivers, your condition may require two days of hospitalization for observation. Do you
have any family members accompanying you? A mate, or parents?”
My voice was dry and hoarse when I answered. “I don’t have any family members…”
The healer was stunned and looked at me seriously. “Don’t you feel it yourself? When you
were sent to the hospital, your lower body was torn and there was obvious bleeding, so I
asked you these questions.”
The healer spoke patiently. “If you have been violated, I suggest you call the pack
enforcement.”
I bit my lip, my face pale with humiliation and rage. “This is my business. I don’t need you to
interfere.”
Being kindly reminded, but seeing my attitude, the healer didn’t say anything more. She left quietly, probably thinking I was another stubborn victim.
After the healer left, I lay back on the bed, biting my thumbnail tightly. My face was extremely
ugly as the memories crashed over me.
The man’s cruel and cold words kept echoing in my ears: “One golf ball is five million. Let’s

Sure enough, I received a text message on my phone that a remittance had arrived. A full ten
million.
It was the ten million I had earned through torture and pain!
(Elena’s POV)
On my side, I walked out of the consultation room, closed the door, and turned around to see
Hugo Ashworth leaning against the wall.
I was stunned. “Professor Ashworth?”
He nodded. “Didn’t he make things difficult for you that day?”
I lowered my eyes. “Not really.”
