Scarlett had just finished checking out when the receptionist hesitated before stepping forward to stop her.

“Ma’am, please wait!” the receptionist said in English.

Scarlett looked at him, her eyebrows furrowing. “Is there something wrong?”

“I wanted to ask, are you from China, and is your last name Ye?” he inquired.

For him to know so precisely where she was from and her surname, there must be a reason.

The staff was surprised. He had already told them it might be a mistake, yet they still asked.

“She checked out and just left.”

“Which way did she go?”

The staff thought for a moment and pointed to the right. “She got into a car at the entrance and drove straight ahead!” “I’ll go after her. You check the surveillance–I need to know which car it is!” Hugo said, turning on his heel and walking

away.

Ray didn’t ask any questions. He turned to the waiter, “Take me to the surveillance room!”

The waiter nodded without hesitation and led him there.

Through the cameras, Ray spotted Scarlett Adler, just like he had seen her at the rooftop restaurant that day. Though she had changed her outfit, her striking presence was unforgettable.

At the hotel entrance, Scarlett got into a car. After noting the license plate, Ray called Hugo, “I’ve sent the number to your phone. I’ll have Chris Baker search along the route.”

“Got it.”

Ray paused for a moment, “I checked the footage. It’s her!”

“I know!” Hugo replied without a moment’s hesitation.

Ray wasn’t sure how Hugo could be so certain just from a name. Perhaps it was something only the two of them understood.

“Be careful!” Ray said.

The call ended.

The waiter beside him spoke up, “Is it this lady?”

Ray nodded, “Yes.”

“Then why did she deny it?” the waiter asked. “I told her someone was looking for her…”

Ray had no idea about any of this. He glanced back at the person, “Could you copy this segment of the surveillance footage and send it to my phone? Then delete it.”

The staff, knowing these people were either rich or powerful, nodded, “Sure.”

Outside.

Hugo was driving around aimlessly, searching.

“Get out, you’re here!” the driver said.

“Where exactly?” Hugo asked.

“Just around the next corner!” the driver replied, then gave him the detailed address.

Once Hugo got the address, he quickly got back into his car and drove over.

The driver watched, feeling puzzled, then muttered to himself as he drove away.

Following the address the driver gave him, Hugo arrived at the corner where Scarlett had gotten out.

After stopping the car, Hugo looked around. Just then, his phone rang.

Seeing the number, Hugo answered, “Ray.”

“About twenty minutes ago, she got out at the corner where you are now and headed into the alley to the south,” Ray

informed him.

Hearing this, Hugo looked in that direction and started walking towards it.

“And then?”

“Did you head back?”

“Yeah!”

Once Hugo reached the alley, he frowned. Although it looked like a simple alley, it branched into three paths.

“The middle one,” Ray directed.

Hugo set his sights and walked down the middle path.

“There are only a few cameras on this road, but I’ve checked. The coverage isn’t great, but with some luck, you might find

her!”

“I got it!” Hugo replied.

“I’ll keep an eye out for you. If I hear anything, I’ll let you know immediately!” Ray said over the phone.
