"There’s no need to go to his house; can’t you just do it at our own home?" Zhang Hualian remarked.

"You’re right, the soup has to be simmered on low heat. A quick boil on high heat just doesn’t produce the same deliciousness and nutritional value," Zhang Hualian found herself in agreement with Tang Yue’s point of view.

Tang Zhengde looked at Tang Yue skeptically and asked, "Xiao Yue, are you hiding something from us?"

"Not at all," Tang Yue replied with a laugh, her heart pounding nervously as she stood up. Remembering the unopened parcel, she said, "Oh right, Dad, I bought you two pairs of shoes, and for Mom, some kitchen utensils, like this convenient peeler, and this waterproof apron so you won’t have to worry about getting your clothes wet anymore."

"Big sis, what about me?" Tang Jun immediately spoke up, worried he’d be overlooked if he didn’t speak soon.

"There’s something for you too, your workbooks," Tang Yue said as she handed them over, causing Tang Jun to frown. His sister seemed overly concerned about his grades, always bringing him workbooks whenever she went out.

"Is there anything else?" Tang Jun wished he had clairvoyance to see right through Tang Yue’s bag and find out what else was inside.

Tang Yue smiled and said, "Look, comics and a set of Journey to the West."

"Xiao Yue, it’s not easy for you going out, why did you buy us things?" Tang Zhengde held the shoes, finding them stylish and the soles soft and comfortable.

"Dad, you stand for so long, you need a pair of comfortable shoes," Tang Yue explained. "This trip to Shenzhen went very smoothly."

"As long as it went well. How much were the shoes? Your Mom will give you the money later; you shouldn’t spend your own," Tang Zhengde said.

Putting on a displeased face, Tang Yue replied, "Dad, these are a token of my filial respect for you. Are you implying they’re too cheap, or that I made a bad choice?"
