“I BROKE UP WITH YOU,” she shouted, cutting him off, her voice trembling with fury, “BECAUSE YOU FUCKING CHEATED!”
The words hung between them like a detonated charge, the air in the room suddenly heavy with silence.
Lucian froze, her accusation slamming into him like a physical blow. For a heartbeat, his expression was unreadable, then the faintest flicker of shock cracked through the mask.
His brows drew together, his lips parting as if to speak, but no words came.
The heat in his eyes shifted, tempered now by something heavier, darker. His chest rose and fell with a slow, deliberate breath, as though reining in the surge of emotion threatening to spill over. A faint muscle twitched in his jaw, betraying the effort.
He took a half–step toward her, his voice low, almost dangerous. “What did you just say to me?”
Lucian would take any insult or accusations but a cheat was where he drew the line. He loved Alina with every fibre of his being and would never cheat on her.
Alina didn’t flinch, though her pulse pounded in her throat. She met his stare head–on, her own eyes burning.
Silence stretched between them, thick, charged, and unyielding, until the only sound was the steady, tense rhythm of their breathing.
And then, without another word, Lucian’s gaze hardened, like steel locking into place.
Alina scoffed, folding her arms tightly across her chest. “Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about, Lucian. The least you could do is have the decency to admit it.”
Lucian’s jaw tightened, a muscle in his cheek ticking. “Stop accusing me of dirty things like that,” he said sharply, his voice laced with anger. “I have never, and will never, cheat on you. But you…”
Her
eyes narrowed instantly, her tone snapping into defensive sharpness. “Me what?”
“You,” he bit out, “are the one who’s been sneaking around. Actually-” his lip curled in bitter correction “— you’re not even sneaking anymore. You’re openly showing affection with Louis in public.”
Alina stared at him, her pulse spiking, her expression twisting into a mixture of shock, disbelief, and rising fury. “Don’t you dare project on me, Lucian,” she said, her voice trembling with restrained rage. “You are the cheat here, not me. And don’t come in here making baseless accusations without providing proof.”
“You want to see proof?” Lucian’s voice dropped, dangerously calm. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, and unlocked it with a swift swipe. “Here.”
He held it out between them, his eyes fixed on her face as he slid through the photos, one after another, of her and Louis hugging.

Alina didn’t take the phone, but her gaze locked on the screen. The angles, the timing, they made it look far worse than it was.
In every frame, Louis’s arm was around her, her smile soft, even fond. To anyone else, it was the kind of closeness only lovers shared.
“That’s not what it looks like.” She said coldly, meeting his eyes without flinching.
“Yeah, sure,” Lucian gave a humorless laugh, though the bitterness behind it was palpable. “It makes a lot of sense now why you didn’t want to end the contract with Louis.”
“Don’t make things up,” Alina snapped, her voice rising. “It wasn’t like that.”
“Oh yeah?” His brows arched as he stepped closer, voice low and challenging. “Did you or did you not hug him?”
“Yes, I did.” She shot back without hesitation.
He gave a short, sharp scoff. “Then what else is there to explain-”
“I wouldn’t have been hugging Louis in the first place if it wasn’t for you.” She cut in, her tone dripping with
accusation.
Lucian stared at her in disbelief. “Me? So it’s my fault you cheated?”
“I didn’t cheat!” she yelled, her hands balling into fists. “And even if I did—” her voice cracked with raw emotion “-you cheated first. Louis was only trying to be there for me.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Lucian’s brows furrowed, his confusion breaking through the anger.
Alina’s eyes narrowed to slits. She reached for her phone, her fingers moving swiftly before she looked up at him again.
A moment later, Lucian’s phone pinged with a new message.
“Go ahead,” she said coolly, crossing her arms. “Check it out.”
Lucian’s eyes
flicked down to his phone, the glow of the screen reflecting in their dark depths.
He swiped the first image open, his brows drew together, the muscles in his jaw going rigid.
Another swipe, then another. Each photo showed him at the bar, leaning toward a woman with glossy hair, her hand brushing his arm in a way that was far from innocent.
His head snapped up. “Where the hell did you get these?”
“Does it matter?” Alina’s voice was cold, her chin tilting up in defiance. “They’re real. And that’s you is it not?”
He exhaled sharply, raking a hand through his hair. “Alina, this isn’t what it looks like.”
Her laugh was dry and humorless. “Funny. That’s exactly what I just said to you a few seconds ago but you
