Lucian and Alina returned to Elaris, while Talia remained behind for a few more days to finish her contract. However, Alina and Lucian had already begun setting their plan into motion.

At the Blackwood’s tower, Lucian leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable, his fingers drumming against the polished wood of his desk. His eyes flickered toward Jessica, who stood poised with her notepad in hand, waiting for instructions.

“Jessica,” his voice was low, deliberate, edged with authority. “If Alina comes by with lunch again, I want you to tell Emma to let her know I’m busy.”

Jessica blinked, caught off guard for a moment. “You… want me to tell Emma to say that?” she asked carefully, tilting her head as though trying to decipher his motive.

“Yes,” Lucian said, his jaw tightening. “Make it sound believable. Things between Alina and me is..how should I put it, a little… strained at the moment. Do you understand?”

Jessica had to admit that she was annoyed that Alina didn’t break up with Lucian after seeing the video but she was happy that things between them weren’t rosy either.

Jessica’s lips parted, a small flicker of intrigue dancing in her eyes. She nodded slowly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “Of course, sir.”

Lucian leaned forward now, his gaze sharp, piercing. “This isn’t optional. If she asks why, Emma is to say I’ve been unavailable all day. Make sure it looks real.”

Jessica was pleased at this new development. With this, it’s only a matter of time before she worms her way

into Lucian’s heart.

Jessica nodded again, though a faint smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. “Consider it done.”

Lucian’s eyes narrowed briefly at her tone, but he let it go, continuing. “Also… book a table for lunch tomorrow.”

Jessica straightened. “For how many?”

Lucian’s expression remained cold, unflinching. “Two.”

She hesitated, her brows knitting together as her voice dropped. “And… who will you be dining with, sir?”

Lucian’s gaze shifted toward her, steady and firm.

“With you.”

Jessica froze, her eyes widening in disbelief before narrowing again as if she hadn’t heard him correctly. For a split second, her confidence faltered, but she quickly composed herself, a faint smirk tugging at her lips.

The door clicked shut behind her. Lucian exhaled sharply, rolling his eyes in annoyance. His jaw tightened as if the mere thought of her presence irritated him. He snatched up his phone from the desk and dialed Alina.

The line rang only once before her cheerful voice came through, light and warm.

“Hey, how’s everything going over there?”

Lucian leaned back in his chair, pinching the bridge of his nose with frustration.

“Everything’s fine,” he muttered, his tone laced with a groan. “But I can’t stand Jessica after knowing everything she’s done.”

Alina’s soft chuckle filtered through the line, though beneath it was a note of reassurance.

“Just hang in there, Babe. It’ll all be over in a few days.”

“That’s easy for you to say,” he snapped lightly, though his frustration wasn’t directed at her. He leaned forward, elbow resting on the desk. “You’re not the one having lunch with Jessica tomorrow.”

“I’m not happy about it either,” Alina admitted, her voice carrying a faint edge. “But it has to happen for the plan to work. You know that.”

Lucian sighed, his knuckles rapping against the polished wood of his desk in agitation. “I know… I just want this charade done with.”

“Have you instructed them not to let me see you?” Alina asked quickly, her voice shifting to businesslike caution. “Because I’ll be coming over soon.”

“Yes,” Lucian replied firmly. “I already gave the order a few minutes ago. No one lets you near me.”

“Good,” Alina said softly, her tone tinged with determination. “I’ll be there in a few minutes then.”

“Alright,” Lucian breathed out, his voice low but steady. “I can’t wait for this to be over.”
