“Boss-” he addressed Lucian, his voice trembling slightly, “Louis is gone.”

The hall was still buzzing, the crowd murmuring and whispering about the explosive revelations that had just unfolded.

Tension clung to the air, heavy and restless. Mia quickly rushed on stage, microphone in hand, her smile shaky but professional as she tried to do damage control.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we sincerely apologize for the unexpected… interruption,” she said, her tone firm yet warm. “We kindly ask that you remain calm and enjoy the rest of tonight’s event. We promise the surprises aren’t over just yet.”

The audience quieted slightly, though the whispers persisted in clusters across the room.

Meanwhile, Lucian’s sharp gaze snapped to the guard who had just delivered the unpleasant news, his jaw clenching. “What the fuck do you mean he’s gone? Didn’t I ask you to keep an eye on him?” His voice was low, dangerous, cutting through the tension.

The guard swallowed hard. “We did. We followed him when he left on foot. But then… a van appeared out of nowhere, pulled him inside, and drove off. Before we could get the car around, he was gone.”

Lucian’s expression hardened, fury glinting in his eyes. “Find him. He couldn’t have gone far. Do whatever it takes. Bring him back.” His tone carried finality, a command that brooked no hesitation.

The guards nodded quickly and hurried out.

Ace stepped forward, steady but grim. “I’ll get on it. I’ll mobilize everyone right now.”

Lucian gave a curt nod before his eyes shifted to Alina.

She stood trembling, her arms folded across her chest as though trying to steady herself. Fear etched her delicate features, her voice barely above a whisper. “If they can’t find Louis… that means he’ll be in the shadows. We don’t know what his plan is. He might come back for me. Especially after everything that just happened…he’ll want revenge.”

Lucian stepped closer, his gaze softening as he reached out, his hand brushing against her arm in reassurance. “Don’t

worry Doll,” he murmured, his voice steady and protective. “We’ll find him. Nothing’s going to happen to you, Alina. I’ll make sure of it. Just… breathe. Calm down.”

After a moment, she looked up at him, her voice softer. “I don’t even know how to feel about everything else. The adrenaline’s still pumping… I swear my heart hasn’t slowed down once. But…” she managed a faint, weary smile, “I’m glad Jessica is out of our lives now.”

softened, gratitude shining through. “Thank you,” she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. “Thank you for everything.”

But Lucian shook his head lightly. “No. Thank you…and Talia. Without the both of you, I wouldn’t have uncovered what’s been festering inside my own company. And to think, I pride myself on being careful about who I let work for me…” his tone darkened slightly, brows furrowing. “Monday, I’ll begin a purge. No one who doesn’t belong will remain.”

He leaned down, pressing a firm kiss to her lips before pulling back, his gaze protective but commanding. “Now… go finish your event. Let’s close the night and get you home.”

Alina nodded, hugging him tightly before slipping backstage. Talia was waiting there, arms crossed but a relieved grin tugging at her lips.

“Thank you,” Alina breathed, embracing her friend. “Thank you for everything.”

Talia laughed, her voice rich with amusement. “Please. I was eating this whole thing up from behind the scenes. The crowd loved it too. At least I didn’t miss the drama this time.” Her grin widened, a playful glint in her eyes. “Good riddance to that devil. Who knows what she would’ve done if we hadn’t figured her out.”

“I know right?” Alina’s expression softened, resolve flickering behind her tired eyes. “Let me address the crowd, then we can go.”

She stepped back on stage, the audience already restless with whispers. Taking the microphone, she spoke with grace, her voice steady though her body was still trembling faintly from earlier.

“I want to sincerely apologize for the unexpected turn of events tonight.” She began.

From the crowd, a voice called out loudly, “No need to apologize! This was something we’d never see anywhere else.”

Another laughed, shouting, “Premium entertainment!”

The hall erupted in laughter and claps of agreement, the tension easing. Relief washed over Alina’s face as her lips curved into a genuine smile.

“I’m glad you see it that way,” she said warmly. “And I hope it didn’t take away from the real purpose of tonight. Don’t forget, the store officially opens Monday. You’ll all be the first to purchase the collection you’ve seen tonight. Thank you for being here, and have a wonderful night.”

The crowd cheered, loud and enthusiastic, though no one left immediately. Small clusters formed, some chattering about the designs, others dissecting the drama they had just witnessed.

Backstage again, Alina found Talia waiting. “Shall we?” She asked softly.

“Yes please, I am beat.” Talia sighed.

They stepped outside, only to meet Ace returning, his expression sharp but controlled. “I’ve organized the

Ace froze for a beat, blinking in shock. Lucian never meddled in personal affairs, never played matchmaker. Yet the gesture was unmistakable.

His chest warmed faintly, gratitude swelling inside him, though he gave only a firm nod. “Understood.”

Turning to Talia, his tone softened. “Let’s get you home.”

Talia, visibly drained, nodded. She hugged Alina tightly, pressing a kiss to her cheek. “Call me if you need anything.“She whispered, before turning to Lucian with a small, respectful nod.

“Thank you for everything.” Lucian told her.

“Anything for my girl.” Talia winked at Alina before leaving with Ace.

“She is a good friend.” Lucian commented, watching Talia go.

“I know.” Alina smiled.

Lucian opened the car door for Alina, his hand at the small of her back as she slipped inside. He joined her, the car pulling away into the night.

But from the shadows not far away, hidden and seething, Jessica watched them with eyes burning with rage.

The night air bit cold against her flushed skin as she watched them from the shadows, her heels clicking angrily against the pavement.

Rage twisted her face, every muscle tight with humiliation. She could still hear the echo of the crowd’s laughter and murmurs behind her, burning into her like fire.
