Alina’s face went bright as a red apple, mortified and surprisingly amused at once. Before she could protest, the line went dead.

She finished the sketch she’d been obsessing over, smoothed the last line, then picked up the phone and called Mia. “Come to my office.”

“On my way ma’am” Mia’s efficient voice chimed. She arrived moments later and took the folder containing the designs from Alina.

“How are sales?” Alina glanced up.

“Good ma’am.” Mia responded, tone light.

“Good?” Alina asked, trying to sound casual. “How good?”

“The men’s line sold out,” Mia reported with a small, pleased smile. “Women’s still got a few pieces left.”

“Great… have production produce more sets. Don’t wait.” Alina said, already imagining the production floor humming.

“We’re out of fabric, but I’ve already placed an order,” Mia said, tapping her tablet. “It should arrive by tomorrow.”

Alina nodded. “Perfect. Anything urgent scheduled? I’m stepping out for lunch.”

“A soon–to–be bride called earlier, wants to meet today,” Mia said, scrolling. “Also a supplier call at two, a fitting at three, and your evening pitch with the boutique client is still set for five.”

“Move the bride till tomorrow,” Alina said immediately. “And shift the fitting and pitch if you can,my lunch might run long.” She watched Mia’s fingers fly across the screen. “Anything else?”

“No ma’am.” Mia answered after a beat.

“You can go for lunch too Mia, try and take a break every once in a while, you are not a robot.” Alina told Mia, her tone slightly scolding.

“I will ma’am. Enjoy your lunch.”

Alina stepped out into the daylight, slid into the backseat of the car

“Drive to the ‘Glasshouse‘ restaurant please.” Alina instructed Lee who was driving for the first time while Jordan sat in the passenger seat.

“Yes ma’am.” Lee responded, shocking Alina.

He almost never talks and mostly nods in response.

Chapter 187

Alina recovered quickly though and dialed Lucian’s number.

He picked up after the first ring.

“Hey baby.” His smooth voice came through the phone making Alina melt.

“Hey babe. I’m on my way but I’ll be stopping by the restaurant to pick up our lunch. What do you want to eat?” Alina asked.

His voice crackled through, amused and easy. “You already know what I want.”

“I do.” Her tone held confusion.

“Yeah, you do.”

Not having it on her to go back and forth with him she decided to ask “Okay for Clarity sake, please remind me.”

“You.” Lucian said simply.

“Huh?” Alina’s face twisted in confusion.

“I want to eat you.” He elaborated.

She squealed, louder than she meant to. “Lucian!” Her cheeks flamed as she dropped her voice, lowering the phone volume that she had earlier increased while on the phone with Talia.

Jordan glanced at her through the rearview mirror, Lee’s jaw was set, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. Although both men had bank expressions, it was clear they heard Lucian.

“What?” Lucian said, dryly. “You asked what I wanted to eat and I told you.”

“Be serious,” she hissed, trying to pull herself together. “Behave.”

He laughed softly. “Fine. Get me the grilled lemon chicken, quinoa salad on the side, and sparkling water. Also, the smoked salmon wrap for later.”

She blinked, mentally composing the order. “Got it. I’ll be there in thirty minutes.”

“I should be done with my meeting by then,” he said. “It’s with a very important client.”

“Good luck,” she said, meaning it. Her thumb hovered over the screen, then she pushed the words out, warm and honest. “I love you.” She disconnected after he murmured the same, her mouth curved into a tired, happy smile.

Thirty minutes later, Alina walked into Blackwood Tower. The reception area was lively with the quiet hum of activity, but Emma’s warm smile lit up the moment she spotted Alina.

“Good afternoon, Miss Alina.” Emma greeted, her tone polite but cheerful.

Alina was happy to see that Emma had not lost her Job considering the fact that Jessica had almost implicated

Alina returned the smile, her voice soft but carrying its usual gentle confidence. “Hello, Emma. Is Lucian in?”

“Yes, ma’am. He’s expecting you. You can head right up.”

“Thank you.” Alina said with a small nod before walking toward the elevator.

Just as the doors slid open, Ace stepped out. His expression was composed, but the faint curve of acknowledgment touched his lips. “Ma’am,” he greeted with a nod. “I was just coming down to get you.”

Lucian had asked him to go get her to avoid any mishap, even though Jessica was gone, he didn’t want to take any chances.

Alina’s smile widened politely as she stepped in beside him. They rode up together, the silence settling between them until she found herself stealing little glances his way. Talia’s words from earlier kept echoing in her head, and despite trying not to, her thoughts wandered back to Ace and her friend.

Ace’s sharp gaze flicked toward her, catching her mid–glance. His brows drew slightly together. “Is there a problem ma’am?” His voice was low, cautious, but not unfriendly.

Her cheeks warmed instantly, and she shook her head. “No, not at all.” She hesitated for a second before adding with a teasing lilt, “Actually, Talia asked me to deliver a message to you.”

The change was subtle but undeniable. The instant Talia’s name slipped from her lips, his shoulders straightened, and his eyes sparked with alertness.
