Alina opened her eyes again, her tone turning more pensive. “There’s one thing, though.”

Lucian’s eyes narrowed. “What is it?”

She glanced at him, her brows knitting in thought. “It felt like… Jessica was already in the restroom before I even walked in.”

Lucian’s gaze sharpened as he studied Alina. “Why do you think she was already inside?” he asked, his voice calm but edged with curiosity.

Alina’s brows drew together, her tone steady though the memory unsettled her. “Because of the direction Jessica walked out from. The only window in there was on the opposite side, and it was closed. She didn’t come in after me. She was already there.”

The room went still. Talia bit her lip before blurting out, “Does that mean… Jessica isn’t working for the man in the shadows?”

Lucian’s jaw tightened, his voice firm and unwavering. “I doubt that. But she wasn’t working alone either. Jessica doesn’t have the resources to pull this off by herself.”

Ace leaned forward, his tone clipped and focused. “Then what do we do now?”

Lucian’s eyes swept over each of them, steady and commanding. “We keep our eyes open. All of us. Jessica has been watching, waiting. This wasn’t some spur–of–the–moment stunt.”

“You’re right,” Talia murmured, her fingers flying over the keyboard before she turned the laptop toward them. “Look.”

The grainy footage showed the boutique entrance from two days ago. Just across the street, half–hidden in shadow, Jessica stood watching.

“She’s been watching us.”Talia said softly, her voice carrying a shiver. Her skin prickled as if the gaze was still on her.

Alina exhaled slowly, realization dawning in her eyes. “No wonder I felt someone was watching me. But there was nobody there when I looked.”

“You couldn’t have seen her from the angle we were standing,” Talia explained gently.

Lucian’s expression hardened, his tone final. “Then we all need to be vigilant. Careful. You included, Talia. If Jessica can’t get to Alina, she’ll try to hurt you, either to reach Alina or simply out of spite.”

At those words, Ace’s jaw clenched. His entire frame stiffened, tension rippling through him at the very thought of Talia being harmed.

Talia noticed the change instantly. Without hesitation, she slipped her hand into his, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “I’ll be careful,” she promised, her voice soft but resolute, before turning back to Lucian with a nod.

Lucian rose from his seat, his voice low but firm, carrying the weight of finality. “Alright that’s enough for tonight. By morning, we’ll think more clearly and decide how to move forward.”

Ace inclined his head. “Understood.” He turned toward Lee, his tone sharp and commanding. “Secure the perimeter one more time before you get some rest.”

Lee gave a short nod. “On it.” His steps were already moving toward the door.
