From the moment Alina stepped out of her room that morning, the air buzzed with congratulations.

Maya, balancing a tray in her hands, was the first to beam at her. “Congratulations, Miss Alina! The ring looks beautiful on you.”

Alina’s lips curved into a soft smile, lifting her hand slightly so the light caught the stone. “Thank you, Maya,” she said warmly.

As she made her way down the hall, other staff members greeted her with smiles and well–wishes. Even Jordan, standing near the door with his usual composed expression, gave a respectful nod.

“Congratulations, Miss Alina,” he said, his voice calm, formal as always.

Alina returned the nod, a touch of amusement flickering in her eyes at his straight–laced tone. “Thank you, Jordan.”

Lee, already holding the car door open, chimed in with his own stiff but earnest words. “Congratulations, Miss Alina. I hope you’ll be very happy.”

“Thank you, Lee,” she replied softly, touched by the sincerity beneath his professional demeanor.

By the time she arrived at her store, she thought the greetings were done–only to be met with another surprise. As soon as she stepped through the doors, a burst of confetti exploded into the air. The sudden crackling pop made her flinch back with a small gasp, her hand instinctively pressing against her chest.

Her staff erupted into cheers, faces glowing with excitement.

Alina blinked in shock, laughter spilling out of her as she brushed stray pieces of confetti from her hair. “Oh my goodness–this is such a surprise! You really didn’t have to do all this.”

Her production manager stepped forward, eyes shining. “We had to, Miss Alina. You’re a good boss–you deserve every bit of happiness coming your way. We’re all so happy for you.”

Alina’s heart softened at their thoughtfulness. She placed a hand over her chest, smiling at them. “Thank you, all of you. This means a lot to me. And since you’ve gone through all this trouble, I’ll be giving everyone a bonus.”

The room erupted again, louder this time, her staff clapping and cheering in delight. Alina laughed again, shaking her head at their excitement as she moved past them.

Mia quickly fell into step beside her, her eyes sparkling. “Congratulations, Miss Alina.”

“Thank you, Mia,” Alina replied warmly before glancing at her with a playful smile. “And you’d better be ready -you’re going to be part of my bridal train.”

Mia’s eyes went wide, her mouth parting slightly in surprise. “Me? Really?”

Mia’s lips curved into a touched smile, her voice a little breathless. “I would be honored, Miss Alina. Truly.”

Before Alina could respond, Mia added carefully, “There’s also…. someone waiting for you in your office.”

“Oh?” Alina arched a brow but didn’t slow her steps. “Who?”

Mia opened her mouth to answer, but Alina was already pushing open the door.

Inside, Emily sat perched on the edge of a chair, arms crossed tightly over her chest, her expression pinched and stormy. Her eyes snapped to Alina’s hand, then to her face, a betrayed frown darkening her features.

Alina hesitated only a fraction before offering a smile. “Hey, Emily.”

But Emily’s scowl only deepened, her voice sharp and accusing. “You’re getting married?”

Alina blinked at Emily’s sharp tone, caught off guard. “Uhmmm… yes.” She admitted carefully.

Emily’s lips trembled into a pout, her brows knitting. “But… but… but what about my birthday party?”

For a beat, Alina just stared at her, then a laugh bubbled from her chest. So that was why the teenage girl looked as if her whole world had been shaken? She wasn’t upset about the engagement itself. She was worried her birthday would be forgotten.

“Emily,” Alina said, amusement softening her tone, “don’t you worry about that. Your birthday is in a week, and I am going to give you the best nineteenth birthday party ever. That’s a promise.”

Emily’s face instantly lit up, eyes brightening with excitement…but then, almost just as quickly, her frown returned. “But what about your wedding?” She asked with all seriousness.

Alina tilted her head, brows drawing together as she set her bag on the desk and lowered herself into her chair. “What about it?”

“Well…” Emily shifted, her voice quieting into something almost guilty. “Don’t you have to plan that too? I mean… I’ll understand if you can’t plan my birthday. I’m sure Daddy can figure something out.”

Alina studied the girl for a long moment, touched despite herself. Emily might appear like a spoiled heiress at first glance, but in moments like this, her heart always shone through. Pampered, yes….but sweet. Genuinely

sweet.

“Come here.” Alina said gently, motioning with her hand.

Emily hesitated only a second before walking over. Alina rose from her seat, cupping the girl’s face with both hands, her thumbs brushing against her soft cheeks. “I gave you my word, and I intend to keep it. We’re almost done with the planning anyway, so you have nothing to worry that pretty head of yours over.”

Emily’s lips wobbled, still uncertain. “But… your wedding preparations-”

Alina cut in smoothly, a small smile curving her lips. “Lucian has that handled. I don’t have to lift a finger. There’s a wedding planner, and Talia is making sure everything goes exactly to my taste.”
