Chapter 230

AUTHOR’S POV.

G38 vodehers

Alina finally arrived at the birthday venue, a delicate gift bag clutched in her hand. She felt a twinge of guilt for running late, cake testing had taken longer than she anticipated, and she knew Emily would have been waiting.

The moment she stepped through the entrance, Mrs. Garcia was already walking briskly toward her, relief flooding her features.

Thank God you’re here, she breathed, placing a hand over her chest as if she had been holding it in worry. Emily is refusing to cut her cake because you weren’t here.

Alina gave an apologetic smile, her tone soft with sincerity. I’m so sorry, I had a lastminute cake testing for the wedding, and it ran longer than I expected. I came as quickly as I could.

Mrs. Garcia’s expression shifted almost instantly, a smile tugging at her lips. Congratulations, by the way. And thank you for putting Emily in your bridal train. She hasn’t stopped talking about itshe’s over the moon.”

Alina’s lips curved warmly, her eyes softening. It was nothing. She’s special to me, and I’m happy she’ll be part of it.

Still, thank you.” Mrs. Garcia’s voice carried genuine gratitude before her gaze swept over the decorated hall. And you’ve done a beautiful job with the venue. Everyone is talking about how perfect it looks. By the end of tonight, I’m sure you’ll have people lining up to book you for their events.”

Alina’s smile widened faintly, though her tone stayed humble. That’s very kind of you to say.

They finally made their way into the party hall, where guests mingled, laughter and chatter weaving together in a lively hum. At one corner, Emily sat apart, her back turned, clearly sulking.

Alina approached quietly, her steps light, before leaning down to whisper near her ear, her voice teasing and gentle. A little birdie told me someone was refusing to cut her cake.

Emily’s head whipped around instantly, her expression transforming from sulkiness to pure delight. Alina!she squealed, springing up to wrap her arms tightly around her. Her pout returned for only a moment. I thought you weren’t coming.

Alina hugged her back, chuckling softly. I would never miss your birthday for anything in the world. I just had some lastminute wedding prep, and it ran a little late.”

Emily waved it off with dramatic flair, her eyes twinkling. It’s alright. You’re here now, and that’s all that matters. Now come on, let’s go cut my cake!

Oh, so now you’re in the mood to cut your cake?Mrs. Garcia’s voice called out with a playful glare.

Emily winced slightly, giving her mother a sheepish smile before dashing toward the cake table, her excitement outweighing any scolding.

Chapter 230

Mrs. Garcia shook her head lightly, her tone softening as her gaze followed her daughter. I don’t know what you did to my daughter, but she’s obsessed with you. She’s very fond of you, Alinashe talks about you all the time, like you’re her big sister.

Alina’s eyes followed Emily with quiet fondness, her expression tender. She’s grown on me in the time I’ve known her. I’m very fond of her too.

Mrs. Garcia’s expression warmed with gratitude. Thank you for taking care of her.”

Alina shook her head lightly, her voice soft, eyes still fixed on Emily as she laughed with her friends. It’s nothing. She’s a sweet girl.

The next moment, Emily’s bright eyes caught Alina’s across the room. With a delighted squeal, she rushed straight toward her, skirts swishing as she hurried.

Where’s my gift?she asked, breathless, eyes wide with anticipation.

Alina lifted the delicate bag with a small smile, handing it over.

Emily grabbed it eagerly and immediately began to open it, her fingers moving with restless excitement.

Won’t you wait till later?Mrs. Garcia asked with an arched brow.

Emily shook her head, barely sparing her mother a glance, her voice firm with childlike determination. No, I’ve been waiting for Alina’s gift for weeks now. I can’t wait.”

She reached inside, pulling out a large rectangular box wrapped in deep purple velvet. Her breath caught as she carefully opened it, her eyes widening instantly…..shock, excitement, and uncontainable happiness flickering across her face all at once.

Emily’s hands trembled slightly as she stared at the glistening set inside the velvet box, her voice hushed, almost disbelieving. Is this… what I think it is?

Alina bit her lower lip and gave a small, almost teasing nod.

Emily gasped, her voice climbing with each word. Oh my God. Oh my God, oh my Godno way! You actually got me the limitededition jewelry set by Astra?!Her eyes widened in shock as she looked between Alina and the shimmering pieces. There are only two of these in the world, and one was purchased by the Queen! How did you even lay your hands on this beauty?

Alina gave a little shrug, as though it were nothing extraordinary, her tone calm and casual. I know a few people.”

What Emily didn’t knowand what Alina wasn’t about to say, was that she was Astra. The mysterious jewelry designer whose name was adored worldwide, yet whose face remained a secret. Nobody knew her true identity, not even Lucian. The only person who shared that secret with her was Talia.

Mrs. Garcia leaned closer, her expression caught between astonishment and gratitude. This must have cost a fortune, she said softly to Alina. You didn’t have to go this far.
