Chapter 244
AUTHOR’S POV.
The sound of boots echoed across the marble floor as the officers escorted Silas and Elena toward the cathedral doors. Their faces were pale, drained of every ounce of dignity, and the murmurs from the guests grew louder with each passing second.
Gasps, whispers, and the creak of pews filled the air like static, thick with disbelief and judgment.
Seraphina stood frozen, eyes wide, her trembling fingers clutching her phone. Her breathing came out in harsh, uneven pulls as the color drained from her cheeks. The humiliation, the shame…she could feel it burning under her skin like acid. And then something inside her snapped.
Her voice cut through the noise, sharp and brittle. “You’re arresting my parents?!” she screamed, turning toward Darius. “You should be thanking them for taking Alina out of your hands!”
The entire cathedral fell silent again. Heads whipped in her direction. Even the officers paused mid–step.
“What did you just say?” Damien’s voice was low, dangerously calm, his eyes narrowing on her.
Seraphina’s chest rose and fell rapidly, the hysteria climbing in her throat. “You heard me!” she yelled. “You should all be thanking them! If only you knew who she really is! Alina-” She jabbed her finger toward her adoptedsister, venom dripping from her words. “-isn’t who you think she is!”
“Seraphina,” Elena’s trembling voice came from behind the officers holding her. “Stop talking!”
But Seraphina didn’t stop. She couldn’t. The weight of everyone’s scorn was unbearable, and she needed to destroy Alina before Alina destroyed her completely.
“You all think she’s some lost princess, some innocent victim?” Her voice cracked, half–laugh, half–sob. “You’ll be shocked when you find out the real her. The perfect Alina Dawn…no, Dahlia Evergreen…is a liar, a fraud-”
Her fingers fumbled with her phone, her hand shaking as she swiped across the screen. “Let’s show everyone who she really is!” She shouted, raising her phone high.
Talia’s eyes met Alina’s briefly from her seat, but Alina wasn’t phased. Her expression stayed eerily calm, her chin tilted slightly, eyes fixed on Seraphina like she’d already seen this coming.
A click echoed through the sound system, and the massive screen near the altar flickered to life. Gasps spread across the cathedral as the image came into focus.
Seraphina had planned to post a video of Alina when she was still entangled with Adrian but it wasn’t Alina on the screen.
The collective shock was palpable, like a tremor running through the floor as a scandalous video began to play.
Seraphina’s own face filled the screen. Her makeup smeared, hair tousled, body pressed between two men.
A horrified scream tore from her throat. “No! No! Turn it off!”

The crowd erupted…gasps, shouts, whispers tangled in disbelief.
“Oh my God”
“Is that… Seraphina Dawn?”
“I thought she wanted to expose Alina?”
“Someone stop the video!”
“She did this at her own sister’s wedding?“”

Seraphina lunged toward the sound booth, her phone slipping from her hands. “Turn it off! Turn it off right. now!” She shrieked, tears streaming down her face.
Silas turned on her, his face contorted with disgust. “What have you done, Seraphina?! What kind of disgrace are you?!”
Even Elena, still cuffed, looked at her daughter with utter disbelief, her voice breaking. “Seraphina…”
“It’s not real!” Seraphina screamed, her words tumbling out frantically. “She…she set me up! Alina did this! She’s lying!”
Alina’s lips curved slightly, not into a smile, but something colder. “You’re right,” she said softly, her tone deceptively calm. “I did set you up. The day you invited me to lunch, remember? When you drugged my food and planned to let those two men have their way with me?”
Seraphina froze mid–scream, her eyes widening in horror.
“I just switched things around,” Alina continued, her voice steady, cutting through the chaos. “Paid them to give you exactly what you had planned for me. Consider it poetic justice.”
“You’re lying, I did no such thing!” Seraphina screeched, shaking her head violently.
“Am I though?” Alina’s gaze flicked briefly to the screen where Seraphina’s frantic form filled every inch. “You decided to play your own video before the entire congregation. Don’t blame me for that, Seraphina. That was your doing.”
A ripple of low murmurs spread through the crowd again, heavy with condemnation.
Alina then turned towards Talia and gave her a wink of appreciation. Talia, from her seat, caught Alina’s eye and mouthed, “I’ve got you.”
Alina gave the slightest nod in return, her lips parting in a faint, appreciative smile.
Lucian leaned closer, his deep voice brushing her ear. “This has you and Talia written all over it,” he murmured, a ghost of a smirk tugging at his lips.
Alina’s expression didn’t change. She simply shrugged, eyes still fixed on the chaos unraveling before her.
Seraphina, completely undone, screamed again, her voice breaking. “I hate you! I hate you, Alina! I’ll kill

you!”
Before she could reach Alina, one of the Evergreen guards stepped in, seizing her by the arm.
