At that moment, the journalists at a distance were drawn to the scene and immediately approached, cameras clicking madly.
Beverly was secretly pleased, though she wept soft tears and said, "Please, stop snapping pictures. This is my fault. I shouldn't have been late to the meeting. Manager White didn't hit me. Please, don't misunderstand."
Ariana, seeing Beverly trying to manipulate the situation yet again, scoffed. She parted through the two journalists and returned to her office, beckoning Conan to come in.
"Ensure those journalists delete all the photographs before leaving the company!" Ariana was resolute, not afraid of Beverly or the media. Nevertheless, having the photos circulating could damage the company's reputation.
As for whatever fabrication those journalists would write, without evidence, who would believe them?
After the issue was settled and it was nearing lunchtime. Ariana was about to go out for a meal when her phone chimed with an incoming message.
Griffin: Are you free? I would like to invite you for lunch, there's something I need to discuss.
Ariana was taken aback but recalling Griffin's recent plan to start a company, she assumed it was good news and agreed.
Seeing that Ariana did not refuse, Griffin's lips curled into a smile, and he replied: The Japanese restaurant beneath your office building is pretty good, I'll wait for you there.
Ariana hesitated before finally grabbing her bag and heading out of the office towards the Japanese restaurant downstairs.
Although she was apprehensive that Griffin might rope her into his company launch plans, she considered the fact that it was urgent enough to call her out, perhaps there was really something.
Arriving at the restaurant, Ariana immediately spotted Griffin in a small booth. His stunning appearance and unique aura were impossible to miss.
Ariana walked over and sat down opposite him. "What is it? Out with it."
"Your attitude makes me feel like I'm dealing with a business partner. Could you at least smile?" Griffin teased.
Seeing that Griffin had become somewhat playful, Ariana chuckled inadvertently, "Alright, what is it anyway?"
Griffin raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Can't I ask you out if there's no issue? Aren't we still friends?"
"You're the one who said there was something important, right?" Ariana managed a helpless response.
Griffin sighed, "Okay, there is indeed something serious."
As he said that, Griffin took a folder from his bag and handed it to Ariana.
She received it, and upon opening it, she exclaimed, "HCT Financial Company? You've seriously established a company?"
"I'm a practical man too, you know!" Griffin cleared his throat, and sat solemnly, putting on a serious demeanor.
"Congratulations." Ariana placed the file on the table, "Then, today's meal is definitely on you!"
"Of course, I can even treat you for ten days!" Griffin laughed out loud, "However, this meal isn't free, you have to agree to a condition of mine."
"What condition?" Ariana asked curiously.
Over the years, he had noticed Ariana's attitude towards Vincent. He could sense it.
She was so sincere and serious about love, how could she change so drastically if not for the betrayal of Vincent and Jane?
Moreover, he heard that Vincent terminated his engagement with Ariana himself because he felt guilty.
That was strange, would the Thomas family let go of a partner like the White family? No!
So it only explained one thing; to completely get rid of Vincent, Ariana chose to elope with Lambert.
At the very least, he believed that Ariana was someone who would fall in love over time rather than impulsively or due to loneliness, and this was why he dared to make such a bold assertion.
As expected, upon hearing his words, Ariana's expression faltered, slightly taken aback that Griffin would guess the purpose of her marriage to Lambert.
However, she soon regained her composure. "Why would you say that?" she queried.
Griffin caught a fleeting sign of discomfort on Ariana's face, causing him to smile bitterly in a slight sense of helplessness. "In reality, I could guess it – and eventually, so will others!"
She pondered for a while and responded helplessly, "Indeed, when Lambert and I had other purposes for getting married at the beginning and cooperated to achieve them. However, the feelings between Lambert and I have since become increasingly ambiguous. Perhaps, that's just how marriage works—once the couple understands certain things and reach a consensus, they naturally end up together."
At least, for now, she didn't feel anything amiss when she was with Lambert.
