At the other end, close behind Ariana, Fanny, apprehensive that her friend is upset due to what just happened, in somewhat distress said, "Ariana, if you really don't want to go, then don't."
Ariana cast a glance at Fanny beside her, followed by a chuckle, "It's okay. Since I've promised, let's go."
Fanny hesitated slightly, "But it seems like you're not interested. Tsk, Flora is just like that, don't mind her!"
Flora Lewis was the girl with a ponytail from earlier. She was quite average in looks but fluent in speech. However, Fanny didn't like her much. She always felt like she had a sarcastic tone when speaking, which was extremely uncomfortable. In contrast, Fanny felt quite good about Lexie, their relationship within their major was not bad.
Hence, she'll speak up for Lexie.
What Fanny did not know, however, was that her good relationship with Lexie was due to her very being.
Like most students having a slight resentment toward the rich, Lexie had it too. But she was smart, knowing what benefits having such friends could bring. Hence, since she met Fanny at the beginning of the school, she has been deliberately pleasing her.
Now, she has achieved her wish and become good friends with Fanny. Last summer vacation, she even interned at a company run by Fanny's family.
Of course, Ariana was unaware of all this.
However, seeing her friend so worried about her possible unhappiness, she couldn't help chuckling, "Alright, I'm not mad. Ah, your birthday is coming up, right? Has Uncle decided how to celebrate it?" Fanny was about to turn 20.
Twenty is a rather special age, it's a time when a big celebration is held at home.
Ariana had already passed her twentieth birthday.
Her celebration was quite grand.
As the only daughter of Gilbert, the idea of not having a grand celebration was impossible.
Having heard Ariana's words, a flicker of frustration passed over Fanny's eyes, she said helplessly, "Don't get me started on that. I initially discussed with my mother that I would celebrate with friends and classmates. But my father disagreed. Probably going to arrange a banquet."
Ariana gave a nod.
She understood clearly why Fanny's father was doing this. Such a birthday was no longer a simple birthday, but an opportunity for business elites to socialize.
Not to mention, it was Fanny's twentieth birthday.
Fanny was not the only child in her family; she had an older brother and a younger sister.
Nonetheless, Fanny was deeply loved by their parents.
After all, her younger sister was just eight years old.
Before her sister, Fanny was naturally very cherished as the only daughter.
Ariana nodded, expressing her understanding. Then, after a moment of silence, she said, "Okay, I'll go. Remember to send the invitation to my home, marking that it's for both Lambert and myself."
Fanny: "..."
Fanny looked dazedly at Ariana. Widening her eyes, she exclaimed, "Ariana! So Professor Stone truly is your husband!" Although the entire city was thrown into chaos before, and everyone in the school knew, some people still didn't believe it. They all thought Ariana and Lambert were currently only in a dating relationship.
Who gets married so early?
But now, Ariana has made it clear to her that she is indeed with Lambert and, well, you know...
Plus, Fanny knew full well that Ariana was a person who didn't appreciate jokes too much.
Ariana helplessly nodded, signaling she understood.
Upon this, Fanny chuckled lightly at her.
As Fanny's good friend, Lexie could of course not ignore her. She smiled and said to Fanny and Ariana, "The senior fellow next door wants to get acquainted with you guys. Would you like to join us?"
Imitating what Fanny had just told her, Ariana responded indifferently, "I might have had a little too much to drink, I'm a bit dizzy. You guys go ahead."
Lexie: "......"
Fanny: "......"
Fanny was practically on the verge of losing her mind! She had suggested this for later, not as soon as they arrived! How could anyone get dizzy from drinking right after they arrived? Plus, the drink in your hand is red wine, dear!
Lexie did not show any reaction. She noticed that Ariana did not seem interested in joining everyone and didn't get angry. She merely bypassed her and turned to Fanny with a light laugh, "Fanny, since Ariana is feeling dizzy, let her rest for a bit. Shall we go first?"
Fanny hesitated for a moment. She turned her head and glanced at Ariana, her shimmering eyes seemingly contemplating something.
Ariana caught Fanny's glance and responded with a light laugh, "You go ahead and have fun."
Fanny frowned, "But what about you by yourself…"
Ariana replied, shrugging, "I was actually thinking about enjoying the red wine amidst the night's ambiance and comparing it to other places. You go ahead and have fun, I'm just fine on my own. You already know I prefer being alone and quiet."
