Lambert asked directly, "Are you out shopping with friends?"
Ariana slowly shifted her gaze, looking up at Lambert who was staring directly at her. Then, she nodded and said, "Yes, just shopping with Fanny and Kiara."
Lambert smiled and said, "Then enjoy yourself. I am going to discuss some projects with Damon. You continue shopping with your friends; we'll get going first. But remember, come home early today."
Towards the end of his sentence, Lambert's tone carried a hint of ambiguity that only Ariana could understand. Hence, Ariana's face instantly flushed. After a few forced coughs, she pushed Lambert slightly and said, "Alright, alright. I got it. You guys go ahead."
Lambert smiled, and said, "Then, we'll be on our way."
Ariana nodded, still blushing.
Although Ariana didn't know why her face had been frequently flushing recently, she couldn't help it. With a sigh, she thought to herself that she'd have to practice controlling it. At least learn to be half as composed as Lambert.
But Lambert remained oblivious to his wife's inner complaints. He turned to Damon, and asked: "Shall we head to the private room?"
Damon slowly shifted his gaze away and responded with a nod.
Lambert was indifferent to Damon's cold attitude. He shrugged lightly and ruffled his wife's hair before turning to leave, leaving behind a flustered Ariana, and a starry-eyed Kiara. Fanny, however, was distracted, missing the sweet moment between her friend and Lambert.
Once they left, Fanny collapsed onto the table like a deflated ball.
Ariana slowly sat down.
She coughed lightly, then turned to Fanny and asked, "Is that Damon the one you mentioned as your marriage partner?"
Fanny nodded dismissively in response.
Ariana coughed once more, her eyes twinkling. "Actually, I think he's quite okay."
Fanny snorted in reply, "Okay, my ass! You know what, Ariana, not too long ago, my mom insisted I visit the Castro residence. So, I did. But he hardly bothered to look at me, let alone speak with me besides bossing me around for water or fetching books. He treated me like a maid. The coldness in his eyes... I'm convinced he still harbors resentment from our past encounters." As an illegitimate child, being reminded of his birth status was vexing beyond measure.
Especially for someone with Damon's attitude.
Even if you are young, you will remember this humiliation for the rest of your life.
Not to mention Damon, who was now increasingly being seen as a formidable candidate in the industry. His strategies were invincible.
Her elder brother, who competed with Damon in the same field, had given up hope as he never succeeded against Castro.
This clearly showed that Damon did care about past grievances. Otherwise, he wouldn't always single out her and her elder brother for vengeance. Though the Fernandes Family had been spared any direct assault, it did not mean he had let it go.
This signified that he was very much aware he couldn't do much against the Fernandes Family and was only lying low for the time being!
After listening to Fanny's irrefutable analysis, Ariana fell into silence. After remaining quiet for quite some time, she stuttered, "...maybe you are overthinking?"
Fanny responded curtly, "I'm not."
