After Fanny spoke, Beverly’s face instantly turned ashen. She raged, "What nonsense are you talking about?”
Fanny coolly replied, “Whether I'm talking nonsense or not, you know best, don't you? Tsk, why bother playing dumb? Your silence doesn't mean others are unaware. Ah, I bet even these two friends of yours probably know, right?"
Indeed, this matter was the talk of the town within the city's high society. Everyone knew about it.
Being Beverly’s friends, they were also part of this circle. Even if they were mere hangers-ons, they were still from reputable families. So, they were certainly aware.
As expected, the moment Fanny finished her sentence, the eyes of the two girls behind Beverly flickered. If one were to look closely, one could clearly see the look of schadenfreude on their faces. But since they were currently buttering up to Beverly, the two girls immediately retorted, “What do you mean? Aren't your words going a bit too far?"
Fanny shrugged, indicating her indifference.
Seeing her attitude, Beverly's face turned even uglier.
Especially the words of her two followers. Although it seemed like they were defending her, they inadvertently revealed their knowledge of the matter as well, causing her face to darken even more.
Beverly glanced at Fanny, then retracted her gaze, turning it towards Ariana. Then, her red lips slightly opened as she said, "Ariana, don't be so smug. I already know Lambert's background. He was not born into the Stone family. Haha, so what's the use of your current glory? Having married a good-for-nothing, how do you feel?"
Beverly was still ignorant that Lambert was indeed of the Stone family bloodline.
When her mother urged her to return to her in-laws’ house, she didn't specify the reason, only saying that her staying at the Lawrence’s would upset Arnold. So, she ventured home.
Because of this, she didn't know that her mother had found out about Lambert's lineage, and that was why she was asked to return. Her mother feared Beverly’s father would reprimand her if he knew. Thus Beverly was still ignorant that Lambert indeed was the legitimate grandson of the Old Mr. Stone. Just now, she was at a disadvantage, and in her anger, she let it all out.
So, she brazenly laid this issue down, wishing to deal a harsh blow to Ariana.
She thought to herself: What if you got married to Lambert? What if he did a lot for you?
He’s nothing but a discarded child of the Stone Family, what future could he possibly have?
Most likely, his only option in the future would be the White Group. How could that compare with her glorious life? She was not only the heiress of the Lawrence Family, but also the wife of the future Stone Family's inheritor. With these assets alone, she could trample Ariana underfoot.
The two followers by her side were dumbstruck upon hearing these words.
One of them was about to remind Beverly that Lambert had been acquitted, but the other girl stopped her.
The other girl shook her head at her, indicating that she should keep quiet.
She was interested in seeing Beverly's reaction when she discovered Lambert had been released. Thinking of the haughty tone she used to treat them, the girl had a momentary smirk in her heart.
The girl mistakenly thought her friend was reminding her not to speak, fearing her remark would embarrass Beverly.
So, she hesitated and remained silent, taking the hint from her friend.
However, things didn't go as they anticipated. Upon hearing Beverly's mockery, Ariana only smirked and didn't say anything. She glanced at her casually, then turned to Fanny and said, "Let's go, the mall is closing soon."
Fanny naturally wanted to save her friend's face.
She nodded and said, "Okay, let's go." With that, the trio ignored Beverly's group and left.
