Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 403

At that moment, Arnold was still basking in his triumph. He was completely unaware of the situation Jerold was facing on the other side.

He glanced sideways at his younger brother, Lambert, whose expression was as cold as ice, and suddenly a sly smile crept onto his lips. "Speaking of which, I must thank you, third brother, for stepping aside and letting me take the credit for the deal," Arnold said, referring to the contract he had signed just days after Lambert had abruptly left.

Though, in truth, the deal should have been Lambert's.

But who could blame him? He hadn't signed it.

Before the ink dried on the contract, it was anyone's guess who had truly secured the deal. And now, Arnold had reaped the benefits without lifting a finger. To the outside world, it appeared as though he had masterfully negotiated the deal, a feat that naturally filled him with pride. Add to that the downfall of Lucian and the unexpected windfall of fifty billion—it all seemed to confirm that the heavens were on his side. He was destined to claim the position of family head and inherit the Stone family legacy.

At this thought, a fleeting look of satisfaction and arrogance flashed in Arnold's eyes.

Lambert, however, didn't even spare a glance at his brother, who was so caught up in his own joy that he was blind to the impending danger. In response to Arnold's words, he simply replied with a cold, "Congratulations, elder brother."

Lambert's lack of reaction shocked Arnold. It felt like punching a pillow—there was no resistance, no satisfaction. He frowned slightly and continued, "I hope your congratulations are sincere. I know you might resent me, but these things happen. And while I understand your reasons, leaving a client hanging like that was unprofessional. The deal might have fallen through if it weren't for my efforts to apologize and salvage the situation."

Arnold's expression was one of feigned concern for the family's interests like he was the responsible elder brother and Lambert the selfish, immature one.

If it had been Finley in Lambert's place, he would have exploded by now. Though Arnold wasn't exactly a paragon of intelligence or emotional maturity, he was certainly a step above Finley. Ever since Lambert had stepped back, the two brothers had clashed repeatedly, with Arnold always resorting to sarcasm and veiled insults. And every time, Finley would rise to the bait, his face would turn red with anger, and his fists would clench as if ready to throw a punch.

Arnold was basking in his own sense of superiority, and without thinking, he directed his sarcastic jabs at Lambert. Little did he know, Lambert was no fool like Finley, nor was he an easy target like him.

After Arnold finished his seemingly regretful remark, Lambert’s lips curled slightly. He let out a soft chuckle, his gaze fixed on the smug Arnold with a faint, mocking smile. "Well, I must thank you, big brother, for handling the matters I left unfinished. However… I heard from the main person in charge that they were waiting for me to continue signing the documents. But according to you, they didn’t need me there to proceed, and they signed anyway?" Lambert sighed, his tone tinged with feigned helplessness. "This seems to contradict what you just said. I’m really not sure whether to believe you or the representative."

In an instant—

Arnold’s face flushed crimson, then turned ghostly pale. He had never expected the representative to specifically call Lambert, insisting on waiting for him to sign. This revelation left Arnold’s expression shifting between shades of green and white. He sat there, awkward and unsure how to react, for what felt like an eternity before finally mustering a response. "It seems the representative holds you in high regard, brother." Arnold, after all, had been through enough to know how to sidestep the issue with practiced ease.

Lambert had no intention of dragging this out. He simply offered a faint smile that said, 'We all know what’s really going on', then leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes as if to rest.
