It turned out that Vincent had stepped down...
For a fleeting moment, Ariana felt a wave of disorientation, as if the past life she had once lived was nothing more than a distant dream.
It was finally over.
She closed her eyes briefly, a trace of complicated emotion flickering deep within before she masked it.
Noticing her expression, Allison quickly asked, "Ari, what's wrong? Are you okay?"
Ariana shook her head. "I'm fine."
Allison patted her chest in relief. "You scared me! I thought something had happened. You're pregnant now—you can't go around giving me heart attacks like that." She couldn't help but feel a pang of envy, knowing that Ariana was carrying twins. Just imagining two identical little babies made her heart melt.
Luckily, both babies would be her godchildren!
So, by extension, they were practically her own sons. The thought made her eagerly anticipate their arrival.
Ariana chuckled but didn’t stop Allison from daydreaming.
...
The next day, Allison, now reinvigorated with determination, marched back home with renewed confidence. Amused yet exasperated, Ariana soon received a call from the Stone family’s main residence, summoning both her and her husband for a visit.
It was time for the Stone family’s monthly gathering.
Ariana sighed inwardly.
Truth be told, she wasn’t fond of these dinners. But there was no way around it—every month, without fail, they had to return for this obligatory family meal.
This made Ariana somewhat nostalgic for the good old days when Lambert had still kept his distance from the Stone family. Back then, they didn’t have to make a monthly trip back—it had been absolutely perfect.
On the road, Lambert drove steadily, his eyes fixed ahead while music played softly in the background. Every now and then, he glanced at Ariana curled up drowsily in the passenger seat, his gaze tender yet tinged with helpless amusement.
He knew she was exhausted.
The reason for her exhaustion made his brow arch slightly, a smug smirk tugging at his lips.
Unlike him, Ariana wasn’t as energetic. After dozing for a while, she finally blinked her eyes open and mumbled, "Are we there yet?"
Lambert chuckled. "Not yet. You can sleep a little longer."
Ariana let out a soft hum, then blinked again, her expression adorably dazed with lingering sleepiness. The sight made Lambert’s gaze darken with heat, but his self-control was ironclad—he reined it in.
Still, his mind wandered, already plotting the next time he could indulge in some mischief—and exactly how he’d go about it.
Ariana had no idea her husband’s thoughts had taken such a scandalous turn. After a yawn, she gradually perked up, her eyes drifting to the serene countryside scenery outside the window before she smiled lazily. "You know, we’ve only been married a few years, but it already feels like we’ve been together forever. Do you think that’s just an illusion?"
Lambert quirked a brow, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Oh? Would you prefer something more... exciting?"
Ariana rolled her eyes, pointedly ignoring the hopeful gleam in his gaze.
She huffed softly, though the corners of her lips betrayed her, curling upward despite herself.
Even as their relationship settled into a warm, comfortable rhythm, Ariana couldn’t deny how much she loved this feeling. This version of Lambert gave her a deep sense of security—one she cherished.
