The Lamari Group was the primary company that Lambert focused on developing.
Even though he might eventually take over the Stone Corporation, the Lamari Group would always remain his central priority. That was why he still spent most of his time there.
Stefan’s position, on the other hand, was clearly defined from the start—he was a board member.
After all, he was destined to inherit the Morris Corporation, so it wasn’t realistic for him to work long-term at Lamari. While he could manage it in the early stages, once he took over the Morris family business, he wouldn’t be around anymore.
As it happened, Stefan was at Lamari today. With nothing pressing on his schedule, he had been chattering nonstop in Lambert’s office for the past two hours.
Lambert glanced at his watch, his eyes narrowing slightly, before remarking dryly, “Don’t you have anything better to do?”
Stefan, who had been enthusiastically rambling about his wife’s latest pregnancy, blinked in confusion. “Huh?”
Lambert twirled a sleek fountain pen effortlessly between his long, pale fingers before replying, “If you’re that free, you can stay and help me sort through some documents. If not, the door’s right there.” His tone made it clear—he was fed up and wanted Stefan to leave.
Stefan scoffed indignantly. “Seriously? Is this how you treat a friend?”
Lambert smirked coldly. “What do you think?”
Stefan let out a derisive snort. Then, with a casual shrug, he changed the subject. “By the way, I meant to ask—where’s Angelo disappeared to this time? Back overseas?” He knew Angelo’s main operations were based abroad.
Truth be told, if Angelo hadn’t returned recently, Stefan might have nearly forgotten their childhood bond. Despite their constant clashes, years of shared history meant there was still some lingering sentiment. Though he pretended to ask offhandedly, the flicker of concern in his eyes betrayed that he still cared about his old friend.
Lambert answered simply, “Yeah, he went back.”
He had returned to handle some business, but he’d be back in a few days. After all, the upcoming mayoral election was crucial—especially since Angelo’s father, the deputy mayor, had spent years preparing for it.
Stefan sighed but didn’t press further about Angelo. Instead, he shifted gears. “Speaking of which, have you had someone keep an eye on your uncle’s side?”
Lambert knew exactly what Stefan wanted to ask. He gave a slight nod and said, "Don't worry."
Naturally, he wouldn’t let them out of his sight.
The main branch of the family had suffered heavy losses this time—so much so that they were practically finished. But Lambert never underestimated his enemies. Complacency often led to downfall, so he had people monitoring their movements abroad. Incidents like what happened to Lucian wouldn’t be allowed to occur again.
Stefan nodded. "Just keep an eye on them."
Then he sniffed, pursed his lips slightly, and shrugged. "Alright, I won’t keep you here with idle chatter. I’m heading out."
Lambert raised an eyebrow. "Leaving?"
Stefan gave him a look as if it were obvious. "What else? Planning to treat me to dinner? Hah, never thought you’d be so generous, given how stingy you usually are."
Lambert: "..."
Just as Lambert narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in his icy smile, his office phone suddenly rang. He frowned slightly—this line rarely rang unless it was an important visitor without an appointment or a major company emergency.
Without hesitation, he picked up.
It was one of his assistants.
