This time, Lexi had truly crossed Stefan's bottom line.
In the past, though he found her persistent advances annoying, he had always brushed them off because she was a girl. He never bothered to make a big deal out of it.
But now, he realized that his indifference had been misinterpreted.
To Lexi, it might have even seemed like silent approval.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have dared to do something like this—to go and say those things to Allison.
This time, Stefan was genuinely furious. Absolutely livid. Only after carefully tending to Allison for a week, ensuring she had no lingering effects from the incident, did he finally let out a sigh of relief. Then, his expression darkened, his brows knitting together as he glanced at his watch and sent Lexi a cold, terse message.
He asked her to meet him at a restaurant.
Lexi had no idea that this meeting was meant to settle things between them once and for all. Instead, she thought he had finally come to his senses, stopped being stubborn, and realized she was the one best suited for him.
Her lips curled into a wide, triumphant smile.
Just as she was about to leave, Tina happened to return home. The moment she stepped inside, she saw Lexi, dressed to the nines, looking like she was ready to dazzle the world.
Tina’s eyes flickered briefly before she asked in a flat tone, "Going out?"
Lexi couldn’t be bothered with her, replying with a dismissive "Yeah" as she grabbed her purse and made for the door. But as she passed by, Tina suddenly seized her wrist.
Lexi froze for a second before scowling. "What’s your problem?"
Tina’s grip was firm, her expression icy.
She stared at Lexi with a heavy gaze. "Who are you meeting? Stefan?"
Lexi sneered. "None of your business." She yanked her hand free and stormed out.
A flash of disgust flickered in Tina's eyes. The corners of her lips curled slightly as she spoke with biting sarcasm and displeasure, "Lexi, have you forgotten my warning from not long ago? I said you could fool around with any man you please, but you mustn't do anything to disgrace the Kendrick family. Lexi, self-respect is paramount. Stefan is already married. Do you really want to keep making a scene until everyone remembers you as the daughter of a mistress who grew up to become a homewrecker herself?"
She then nodded with a mocking smile, as if talking to herself, "But then again, like mother, like daughter. I used to doubt that saying—now I'm a believer."
The words were nothing short of a blatant insult.
Lexi's face instantly darkened.
Clenching her teeth in humiliation and fury, she glared at Tina and spat, "Tina! Don’t think just because you’re engaged to the heir of Falcon Group in S City, you have the right to lecture me. Do you really think I don’t know what’s going through your mind? You’re afraid I’ll outshine you if I marry Stefan. And the funniest part? Your marriage is just a business arrangement, while mine will be genuine love. You’re jealous—I see right through you."
Tina: "..."
Sometimes, Tina truly wondered what went on inside Lexi’s head.
Jealous of her?
How laughable...
But Tina couldn’t be bothered to argue. The only reason she had stopped Lexi today was to prevent another scandal. She’d already received word about Allison Jay, Stefan’s wife. Though the details were unclear, she was certain Lexi had meddled in some way.
