Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 448

With that, Lexi let out a disdainful snort, her eyes brimming with contempt. "I knew it! That woman is good for nothing except tattling. And to think she calls herself a socialite—what a joke."

Stefan's eyes narrowed instantly.

His expression was icy as he fixed his gaze on Lexi. "So what if she told me? She's my wife—it's perfectly normal for her to confide in me. And you—what exactly is your role in all this? Those photos and your little comments... I expect an explanation, Miss Kendrick."

If Lexi had initially thought Stefan was just his usual indifferent self, she now sensed something was profoundly wrong.

She stared at him, her heart fluttering uneasily as she met the unfathomable depths of his eyes.

Reason told her that Stefan was genuinely angry this time.

At that realization, a flicker of resentment flashed across Lexi's face. Then, raising her voice defiantly, she snapped, "Is what I said untrue? If it weren't for her meddling, we would have been married by now!"

Stefan looked at her self-righteous expression and couldn't help but smirk with derision.

Honestly, in all these years, he had never encountered someone so shameless and utterly delusional. And to make matters worse, he had the misfortune of crossing paths with her.

If time could be rewound, he would have never agreed to date her in the first place.

He would have made sure she stayed as far away from him as possible the moment they met—even if it meant offending the mayor.

He really was cursed.

Stefan regarded her with cold detachment. "Her meddling? Are you sure? Wasn’t it you who initiated the breakup back then?"

Lexi immediately panicked upon hearing this, her words tumbling out in a flustered rush. "Stef, I knew you were still holding onto what happened back then. But I was truly deceived by your stepmother at the time. Still, my heart was always with you. After we broke up, I was miserable for so, so long."

Stefan's lips curled into a chilling smile as he replied, "I suffered for a long time too." His voice was low, the icy glint in his eyes enough to freeze Lexi where she stood. "The temperature of that glass of red wine is something I still remember vividly to this day. Lexi, I was going to let you off the hook. But it seems you don’t appreciate my mercy. You keep targeting the person I care about—do you really think I’d hesitate to act against you just because of your father’s status?"

Lexi stood frozen, her breath catching in her throat.

Stefan continued, his tone dripping with disdain. "Allison is pregnant, and yet you filled her head with baseless nonsense. What exactly were you trying to achieve? And let me make one thing clear—I never had feelings for you. So I genuinely don’t understand where your delusions come from. Back then, dating you was nothing more than a matter of convenience—a political match. It could’ve been anyone, but it happened to be you. So I played along."

Lexi’s face twisted in disbelief, her cheeks flushing crimson. "You’re lying! You *did* love me. I know there’s still a part of you that cares—you’re just being stubborn, aren’t you?"

Stefan remained silent, his expression unreadable.

Tears welled up in Lexi’s eyes as she choked out, her voice trembling, "Stef, let’s start over, please? Give us another chance. I’ll make it up to you—I’ll never hurt you again. I know Allison is just another arranged match for you. I’ll have my father handle things with her family—you don’t need to worry about any of it."

Stefan narrowed his eyes.

If he didn’t know any better, he’d think Lexi had completely lost her mind.

Watching her ramble on, lost in her own delusions, Stefan cut her off with a voice like frost. "Enough. No matter what I say, you’ll keep believing I have feelings for you. I don’t know where you get this audacity, but I’m done entertaining it." His tone turned lethal. "What you did to Allison crosses the line. I won’t let it slide. She’ll get justice—and so will you. Since you’re so convinced I love you, I’ll make sure you see the truth for yourself."
