Today, as usual, Ariana went to the Lamari Group.
Meanwhile, the two little ones were naturally sent to the main villa where Old Mrs. Stone and Old Mr. Stone resided.
At the same time, Gwen frowned as she listened to Beverly's words over the phone.
Beverly had instructed Gwen to take Alvin to the old lady's place.
Gwen couldn’t quite grasp why Beverly suddenly wanted her to bring Alvin there. In the past, Beverly had occasionally asked her to do the same—ostensibly to curry favor with the old lady—and Gwen had played along, though not frequently. Since the old lady remained indifferent, Gwen had reported back, leaving Beverly gritting her teeth in frustration.
Eventually, Beverly stopped pushing the idea.
But this time, her attitude was different, leaving Gwen puzzled about her intentions.
Beverly cursed Gwen inwardly but maintained a calm tone. "I want you to take the child to Old Mrs. Stone more often. When Ariana is there, find a way to let her hold Alvin."
Gwen was taken aback. "Why?"
Beverly lowered her voice. "Because I want Ariana to completely lose the old lady’s favor. After she holds Alvin, you’ll start dosing him—nothing too harmful. I’ll provide the medicine; just follow the dosage. After two or three days of this, call me in a panic."
The plan was simple: Beverly would then step in, "discovering" that her son had been poisoned.
Once the trail led back to Ariana, the scheme would succeed.
As Alvin’s birth mother, no one would suspect Beverly of harming her own child. Desperate times called for desperate measures—this was the quickest and most effective way to tarnish Ariana’s reputation. She could also use the incident to plant doubts in her uncle and aunt’s minds.
Fanny, that meddlesome woman, would undoubtedly visit her best friend in the aftermath.
With careful maneuvering, Beverly could ensure not only Ariana’s fall from grace in the eyes of the old couple but also drag Fanny down with her.
Her elder cousin would surely dislike a fiancée who could befriend someone with such a cruel heart.
After all, birds of a feather flock together.
If this scheme succeeded, it would truly kill three birds with one stone.
Gwen was utterly stunned after hearing Beverly's plan. She never imagined Beverly could stoop so low, even exploiting her own son! Alvin had just turned two. Though Gwen wasn't his birth mother, she had grown somewhat fond of him after caring for him all this time.
Yet Beverly, his actual mother, could be this heartless—
It was terrifying.
How could someone who would use their own child not inspire fear?
Beverly, however, saw nothing wrong with it and pressed on, "Understood?" She wasn’t foolish; after everything she’d been through, she had learned to be wary of others. That’s why she hadn’t immediately partnered with Gwen upon returning to the country, despite their frequent contact abroad.
Only after observing that Gwen had no ties to Ariana and that her life in the Stone household was miserable did Beverly finally let her guard down.
